A Merlin is kinda expensive time builder.
and
Not the kinda aircraft a low time guy should be operating.

Something sounds fishy here.



Not to mention I have more than 2000 hrs in the SW3/SA-227 and a single pilot type.

I've never heard of building time in a multi turbine aircraft as big as a Merlin unless it's a pay-to-fly occupat..... Oh I see, Nevermind.

I really don't see how your proposition makes any financial sense. "splitting the cost" on an aircraft with an operating total cost of at least $1000/hr doesn't seem like a logical way to build time. Unless your typing people in the aircraft this sounds pretty fishy, I'm sorry if I'm misreading you.

He sounds like a private owner/operator looking to defray some fuel costs... still not sure how you could log the time though.

The same thing happens all the time with piston twins and singles (Pilot Share The Ride)

Exactly. I am an owner operator. Thought maybe someone would enjoy flying it with me. I didn't realize I'd get so much critisism. There is nothing fishy. There is no type rating needed.

It doesn't need a type. I agree though, I don't see the point. Most employers look down on time splitting Multi PIC with one person with the hood on. Especially turbine PIC.

Maybe he just likes to fly. If I had money and time to boot and owned a King Air or Cheyenne I would totally let people come along and fly it. Heck if I had enough money I wouldn't even split the fuel.

I may not know too much about this subject but how would that be any different than you and a buddy splitting a cost of a 172? I use to do that all the time. He flew one leg (logged all PIC time) and I flew the other leg. When we were "passengers" we helped with the radio, checklists, charts, etc. So how would him letting you fly his plane be any different?

Yah! That's what I'm thinking. Someone could fly with me and we could trade off PIC time. I have no interest in building any more time,I just want to keep the bird flying as much as possible. I of course would be very involved to keep it safe.

Well anyway, I know that when I was first moving up it seemed very difficult to get that initial turbine time that is so important. I was just being generous.

2 years ago I'd be all over this. Wish it was there when I was first starting off. Kudos to you being so generous with your plane.
