ATP Practical in Simulator?

I almost did my ATP at higher power. They were VA approved and it would have ended up costing the same as in a Seminole. While the type would do me no good it likely would do more for me than 4 more hours in a -44.
Ended up doing it for free in a C-414 I ferried.

Can I do my FAA ATP check ride on a CRJ200 simulator ? I have an SIC CL65 type rating.
When I went last month to Pan AM for my recurrent training they told me I have to pay for the upgrade course to take the ATP check ride which costs $11000. is this because I have an SIC type rating ?

Yes, you can and plenty of regional people do. The sim has to be certified to a certain level (D I think).
No training program is required to take an ATP checkride per the FAA. As far as Pan Am...they either want to make money off of you, or maybe they had people off the street failing ATP rides? You'll need at least a couple hours to get the hang of the left seat.
Find another sim (and an SIC)...whoever owns the sim will probably know an examiner who will give you a ride in it. I know Flight safety operates some for the regionals.
Do you really need a RJ PC type? Unless you have an overseas contract job in mind, I'm not sure how that would be worth the cost. There's absolutely no shortage of CRJ PICs in the US...

Ah, but a record of training and an instructor's sign off IS required for an ATP type ride per 61.157(b). For upgrade you'd think all the student would need is a couple days GS for the oral and a couple sims of V1 cuts and emergencies but 142 schools have to operate per their syllabus, no train to proficiency. Most schools drag out upgrade 1. because they can and 2. because they have to train for the least competent student that shows up.

Does anyone know which places you can get the ATP practical in the same simulator that you did the ATP-CTP? After watching a couple highly qualified and experienced pilot friends hook their ATP check in light twin contraptions, I'm thinking there is some benefit to taking the practical in a jet sim where I'm comfortable.
I've heard that FTI offers the practical in the sim, but didn't know if there were others?
