I have a friend who did the gulfstream stuff. He got hired at like 500 hrs with Colgan after that and even got the 340 instead of the 1900. (This was almost 2 years ago, when the mins for regionals were still around 1000.) But he said there is absolutely no guarantee in it, many of his classmates were jobless.

Oh, please don't leave. You never addressed the lack of integrity in the issue of paying to do a job that anywhere else would be a paid, entry level, position. It's bad for the industry.

The real problem with PFT is:

Today: Pilot "A" takes a CFI, banner tow, etc. job to make a few buck and
get some flight time. He wants to earn his wings, not buy them

Pilot "B" goes PFT. If we ASSUME the PFT propaganda is true, B gets
a job flying in the right seat somewhere and ends up ahead of "A"

Tomarrow: "A" is still clawing his way along trying to advance

"B" is trying to advance to Southwest, but can't get a job because...

Pilot "C" comes along and has done PFT at the regionals and found
some low budget 121 flying 737s and they also have PFT. C flys with
them for a while then gets the interview with SWA because he paid
for his right seat time and the type himself. He doesn't seem to care
that it will take him most of his carreer to pay off his debt: he is
"livin' the life"


If you find a way to get into a shinny jet faster for just a few bucks, someone else will find a way to get there even quicker for a few more bucks.

Lets be honest folks: we pilots are all *****s. The only question is do you want to be a high class call-girl a crack-head?

I know a guy that went to GIA and is now working for XJET. I don't know what he's like now but in college he was the most wreckless person with A.D.D like crazy. Prettymuch ****ed off all his friends. Name is Beckering.

1. Scab infested? We don't have any pilots on our seniority list that are scabs.
A scab is someone that undercuts his fellow pilots. By paying for your job you sir are giving the industry no reason to get better. So yes scab.

2. No student pilots are flying at gulfstream.
That license might say commercial pilot but 250hrs no sir... You're a student. You can't possibly learn it all in that amount of time.
I'm not going to argue with you over which is harder dealing with Level 5 and 6 t-storms and hurricanes in the summer
VIP Level 5 is "intense" with severe turbulence, lightning, hail likely, and organized surface wind gusts. VIP Level 6 is "extreme" with severe turbulence, lightning, large hail, extensive surface wind gusts, and turbulence.
If you're flying in that then your lack of judgment and experience more than shout your inexperience.

Upgrade at gulfstream are currently as soon as you meet ATP mins
Great so only 1250 hrs to go. That will take a few years at least. In all that time you have no PIC and no multi. In one year of flight instruction I've managed 1300hrs PIC and about 60hrs twin turbine PIC just on weekends here and there. I also didn't get paid $7 an hour after paying $30k for it.

You come here with 1000 hours, then you're looking at upgrading about 5 months after you start flying the line
How do you plan on getting that 1000hrs? Getting paid $15 an hour as a traffic pilot for time only flown? I make $25/hr and bill from when I get to work till when I leave. I'm a CFI.

Are you working somewhere where the upgrade is quicker than that?
Sounds like a major case of the Shiney Jet Syndrom.... Upgrade, while important, isn't everything. You make more for reputable regionals, are respected by fellow co-workers, get benifits, some give stock options, others 401k matching. I'll admit gulfstream gives 401k matching. I wonder how far that 1% of $16,000 goes.

Now you flight instruct...we'll say for three years. Say you make 30k/year, thats pretty good for a CFI. Maybe you end up with 1500/100me after three years, you're set to go to the regionals.
I did it in under a year and not a single hour of ME was training anyone. So shave two years off you there.

a comm multi pilot goes to GTA, where she is PAID to build time..
He gets paid $7-$8 an hr after making a $30k downpayment. AWESOME

three years down the road she's got her ATP and is a captain logging multi turbine PIC, and has made around 25k on year one, and 50k on year two, 55k on year three
Hate to slap it to you but it would take roughly 8-9yrs as a captain to get $50k at that place. Don't count perdiem either because they don't dish that out till AFTER 9hrs.

So you're arguement that its so much more expensive to go to GTA doesn't really seem to make much sense....
I spent roughly $3300 on my CFI and $1700 on my CFII. I then went to work and made rouly $42k in a year(January and Feb. here slapped me weather wise so no flying.

You spent $30k. During your hrs with your progam you get $7-$8 an hr. for your 250hrs. So that's $28,000 in the red. Flippin Sweet!!!

Actually no, the pay that i quoted is actually dead on. Pilots credit around 120hrs/month. first year FO pay is just under 19...do the math...if you add per diem which is 1.40/hr, then fo's make more like 30K, but i don't think per diem should be counted as part of your pay.
Once again the per diem doesn't start till after 9hrs. Secondly you don't get FO pay till you finish the program. During the program NOPE! You don't even get those crappy wages. You only get $8ish. They came to my university to recruit us. A few of the pilots hung around and explained how it was the worst decision ever and they don't fly much. One of them actually answered phones to help pay bills.

I've been flying in katrina, wilma, and 3 Tropical Storms. Trust me, a tropical storm is some pretty solid IMC.

You sound more like a debating kid thinking about going there who's having her little dream stepped on. I've never ever ever said this. I can't believe I'm going to say it now even.... but. Says who? That's one version of one. Why does that make him a scab? Because he undercut his fellow pilots. He was willing to work for crappy conditions and for less pay. THAT is what a scab is. Not just a line crosser. If you work for GoJets, SCAB. If you go to a PFT program SCAB. I don't have any respect for anyone that does. I'm sorry. Don't mean to sound like a Jerk. But the guy I know that went to Gulfstream if I even in my life saw or knew his resume was going somewhere I'd do everything I could to make sure that company doesn't hire him.
