You can't argue with the contracts, and if age 65 goes through - that's 10 additional years of flying at premium pay, while Cathay is stuck at 55. Though I did perform well on the initial interview, I have personally opted not to pursue Cathay any further, purely because of my impression of the corporate culture. I'm not a good fit. Nor are they for me. Should anyone need some of the notes that I reviewed for the initial interview, feel free to PM me and I'll send them on. They were certainly more than adequate, and will save you a tremendous expense on books. To each their own...

Thanks

I interviewed last October at CX in SFO. The gouge was right on. I studied my nutz off and did good enough to get a second interview in HKG which I turned down due to having just received the call at SWA. I enjoyed the challenge of "stump the chump" with an Australian and Canadian who seemed as mean as billy goats. I have no idea how well/poor I did on the test but I figure I missed maybe 5 out of 30 (damn katabatic winds). Know the gouge (about a week of hard studying), know your aircraft, they will grill you on it, and know answers to some interesting questions, like; "Being in the Marine reserves, would you ever take up arms against PRC should the need arise?"
Answer, "F'in A."

NP,

Hope it helps, but from what most have told me it is pretty much spot on. Geez, I'm nowhere close to your hours...hope the military time helps.

Anybody know if Cathay hires pilots with bad uncorrected vision? My corrected vision is better than 20/20 and I hold an FAA 1st class but I know for example that in Europe I can't hold a JAA 1st because of my uncorrected vision (-6.0).

I was just wondering if anybody had any experience with this in regards to Cathay and the Hong Kong CAA.

Thanks.

you can get it at www.jetthrust.com it's free with signup. also go to www.pprune.com for more info in the fragrant harbour wannabes section. i'd do a little research to make sure it's where you want to go. its a commitment to make it through the interview

I'm almost complete with my CX application. I'm slowly answering the essay questions at the end. Any gouge on what they're looking for (content and length?)
