Hey guys...interesting question about the military time....If you contract with Crew, it is a US company so it seems they would be required to allow military obligations. Maybe there is some exemption since they supply pilots to a foreign carrier. Also, along those line, I wonder if Crew has to allow for FMLA? I am still waiting for all the pieces to come together, I hope the may class has my name on it...seems like good place to be with some good people there.

Yeah, it's kind of a gray area...I know for sure Emirates/Cathay, etc. have zero obligation to honor USERRA....
Is this contract structured such that you're employed by crew (I would define this as crew's name is on your paycheck)??? And is crew paying you offshore or from a us account? If so, I would say they are required to abide by USERRA and allow mil leave.
If the contract is a direct employment with the Japanese owners, they have zero obligation to let anyone go offshore for mil leave.
Interestingly, I think we might have just discovered one of the reasons they weren't allowing mil time--crew would be in a sticky situation if someone had to leave for extended guard/rsv duty, because as a US co. they would have to honor that person's absence, yet Air Japan might not be happy about taking back a pilot who suddenly had to leave for 3 months...crew would be stuck between the desires of their client airline and US Federal law...

Just some Questions?
Hi guys, I'm new to this board and was wondering if you guys could help me out? I just got a call from Allen at CREW and he gave me an interview for Air Japan for March 24(interview and sim) and march 26(medical), was just wondering what model 767 the sim is and where is a good place to get a cockpit poster? Any help would be great. Thx

Just a question for the folks already working. I understand that some people have opted for apartments vs. staying in hotels when in Narita. I have seen some discussion about it but was wondering if anyone had further information on average monthly cost and locations that are desirable. I just want to focus on getting through training but my wife is hounding me for details for future budgeting purposes.
Thanks

Congrats on the interview, the sim could be configured for both the 763 (C2B2 engines) and the 763ER (C2B6 engines) during the evaluation the sim will be configured with the C2B2 engines, which is nice because it will be easier to handle during the V1 cut and the hand flown raw data visual pattern because since the engines have less of a kick, it will be easier to do a low altitude level off at 1,500 feet. I'm not sure as to where to get a poster but you can try Airliners.net and do a search there, I'm sure that they have plenty of cockpit photos there.

I'm still at the hotel but for what I have found out, the apartments will run you about 110,000Y to 125,000Y per month. the initial cost of setting the apartment up can be quite high because you have to come up with 4 to 5 months up front and you have to furnish the place, most of the guys have roommates (reason why I am at the hotel, It's been a while since college) you have to add utilities in top of that.
