I cannot tell you how many times I have been exhausted and the captain was ready for 2 more legs. What a crazy alternate reality NJA is...

The captains that think the job is easy, never fatigue, don't read the release, don't know the NOTAMS, don't check the weather, don't know their flows or SOPs, don't help clean, don't help stock, don't preflight and don't pay attention.

I don't think the FDAC is a joke, at least anymore than other initiatives are a joke. It takes proper documentation and pushing. There is push back to an extent, but with such an important safety issue it is necessary to keep pushing.
Nobody wants to deal with this problem, but it's going to become more common as the NJA pilot group ages and I'm afraid will lead to an accident, not to mention ridiculously unfair and stressful to the other crew member pulling the weight of the pilot suffering from age related mental decline.

Totally agree. The idea that the union is hanging their hat on it as the "last line of defense" in preventing an age related accident is laughable and WILL show up in court after the accident. "But, but...we had a system in place!"
No they didn't...their arrogance and stupidity will be the catalyst for a fatal accident there. Just wait.

Really the only time somebody that doesn't cut the mustard gets cut is if they fail initial like 6 times in a new fleet, then fail checkrides and retraining when they are sent back into their old fleet.
Once an airplane smacks the ground, everyone will be blood red mad about the system not working, but everyone is also concerned without hurting the feelings of these pilots who are inconsiderate jerks by not pulling their weight, knowing they are not pulling their weight, but not giving a crap.

Too bad the system doesn't work. I was told some stories by somebody in the union who works this program and the position is to retrain. So if somebody is having issues, they get retrained until they can squeak by, then shoved back on the line.

I wish the union was more interesting in helping the majority of pilots instead of often helping the few that can't/won't pull their own weight.

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of things the union does to help pilots that deserve it, but that is the drawback of unions, sometimes those who don't deserve help, get it. But because people pay dues, it means the union has to give them fair representation and support. So when scumbags are found out to be moles leaking sensitive union information to management, the union has to then fight management to keep that persons job. Bashing your head against the wall yet?
