No. I start on Friday the 19th for the IFR refresher and then PC12 ground school on the 23rd.

Hey guys I had another question

I'm short of PIC night hours for my ATP, can I still be hired at plane sense?

Also, if the answer is yes, how it would work for upgrade since I won't be able to reach the ATP mins while flying as a SIC

thank you

You bid/select your schedule and then start IOE. IOE is with an IP or check airman. Minimum of 15 hrs - could be more depending on circumstances. Once that's complete, you go to the line. IOE is done on your selected schedule; you could start right away, but usually only if you request it. You'll get plenty of days off in between if you need it.

Yes, you can still be hired. We don't require ATP minimums because an ATP is not required for SICs (or PICs, for that matter). For upgrade, you don't need an ATP. You just need to comply with the requirements of 91.1053, which is 1500 hrs total.

You'll have no problem reaching ATP mins here (provided you have AMEL time), although night flight time comes in waves and troughs. SICs are required per 91K regulations, so all time is loggable towards those requirements.

Is the IOE done where you are based? Does your salary begin at IOE completion or after the sim?

Thanks for your answer.

I need the night PIC hours, which I understand I won't be able to log while flying for planesense as a SIC/FO. That's why I was concern about getting hired/upgrade.

Anyway, worse case I can always go get that $100 burgers to reach the minimum.

IOE is done during a regular work cycle, with passenger and reposition flights, wherever the company needs you to fly. Your salary begins the day you pass your Checkride in the sim.

61.159 (5) (ii) As long as you have your 25 night hours as PIC, or as SIC acting as the PIC, you're good to go. You would get that time during a night reposition leg (operated part 91) or while undergoing upgrade evaluation.

If the only reason to come here would be to get those 25 night hours as PIC to become ATP eligible, I would think there are faster/cheaper ways to do it.

Thanks again for your answer.

I really want to work for Plane Sense, my fear was that the lack of night yours could make me not competitive to be hired or not make me able to upgrade.

Right now I live in MCO area and can't move for a while because of my wife, so Plane Sense is the best thing that could happen in my life.

I have 950 Total Time, 840 PIC (almost all VFR ASEL, 170 Under the Hood) and a masters degree, do you think I still need to build some more hours in order to be hired?

You are competitive - apply. If you get a call to interview, spend an hour or two in a Redbird to brush up on instrument flying, if you aren't comfortable with it. The sim in the interview is just basic IFR stuff, but it can trip you up if you aren't semi competent. Additionally, the common thread among the folks we TBNT or fail the sim in training is below average IFR competency.
