Starting with CS in August on the Sovereign... it was my #1 choice between NJ, CS and XO (the rest weren't even considered).. I like it on for many reasons, not the lest of which is before there were any unions on any property, CS paid better and treated their folks better than NJ.. NJ's hands were forced by a union, where as there is no drum beat for a union (that I know of) at CS.. so the managers are responsive and treat their people well... their turnover is low and they are backed by Cessna and Textron, no small players..
I can't see working at NJ as being a bad thing, but I just prefer CS.

Congrats - I hear the Sovereign is a great airplane. Did you formerly fly for Netjets (given your name - CE750)? I am surprised you wouldn't want to remain in Columbus with Netjets having flown for Skybus in Columbus.
Regardless, great job getting on with CS and enjoy the Sovereign!

but they are a profitable company
A huge factor that those who have never done it (especially military) is the lack of dispatch at CS.

Congrats on the job.
I did a phone interview with Tom on the 11th but haven't heard a word since. Whats the 2nd phone interview like? Was it same line of questions as the first phone call? Did they mention when the next possible class was after August?
and who is SX...I don't recognize the identifier.
Thanks for the info!

The 2nd one was a bit more of a "Do you REALLY want to work here" and "Do you know what you're going to be getting to?" oriented.. there was a bit of asking me about my prior FAR 135 job too..

Bill,
I flew the 750 and the 560 (Encore) at Swift Aviation Group for 4 years shortly after my American class fell thru and after working at ASA (left there as an ATR CA)..

A huge factor that those who have never done it (especially military) is the lack of dispatch at CS. PICs are pretty much on their own when it comes to flight planning and covering their butts while you get a little help at NJ. When things go bad this can be the difference between keeping your job or not.
I can only guess that you’ve never even been close to a military air station. I had never even heard of a dispatch until I started searching civilian jobs!!

Anyway, it was as that guy described... the written test is not a surprise anymore, but I had thought they weren't going to do it since they didn't spring it on me until the end... it was sort of tough with a lot of weather charts that I frankly haven't looked at in years..
I also feel I could have done A LOT better on the CP's interview where he asked quite a few technical questions on Jepps... I did ok on the Regs, and the climb performance stuff.. except I forgot the meaning of the "Other" column in the Jepp charts.... truth be told, everything I've flown over the past 4 years was either 3-engine or had serious climb power and we used runway analysis so I got rusty on that stuff.. I'd advise brushing up on the jepps.. I recently ordered a trip kit so I can get the "Introduction" section to get re-familiar with it.
I think your prior experience and personality weigh in much more than that though..

Is it true that Netjets and Citationshares hired a bunch of Skybus pilots after it shut down (something like a career fair)? Did many Skybus pilots get on with Netjets, Citationshares and the other fractionals?
