There was 4 of us with average total time around 7.000hrs give or take......It started at 9am and ended around 3ish...... The first half of the interview was a get to know the company presentation, facility tour and lots of paperwork. After lunch thats when the real fun begins and the 4 part interview starts. For me it started with an HR interview with lots of questions most of which became a big blur. Then a sim eval on a PC set up as a king air, real quick ILS rwy 17L KPIE was what they gave me...The sim eval must not carry too much weight cause I hosed the last 1000ft pretty good....After the sim it was off to the technical interview with 3 training guys in a small room grilling me with IFR questions related to airspace departures and approaches. It was a humbling/intimidating experience to say the least! And finally it was the interview with the DO which was my favorite, really laid back pleasant experience with get to know you type questions. Overall I was shocked at how much harder this process was!!!! Everyone told me that its a sure thing if they invite you to KPIE, however not the case any more, they see its a buyers market out there......The other 3 guys got shot down and I was the only one to make it, needles to say I was shocked!!!!!
So the moral of the story: Prep for HR questions and study up on your IFR knowledge......And overall be your self, HR is good a smelling BS from a mile away.
good luck

That is a lot of total time for a group average.
Did you get a sense talking to the others about the breakdown of the time? PIC or ME for example?
I just wrote up my own experience in another thread and it sounds similar to yours - especially the oral portion and the questions asked. I didn't have a one-on-one interview with a Chief Pilot or anybody, but a panel interview which was definitely the most laid back porition of the process.

got the call!
Interviewed in mid august. 3.2k total, 1.1k pic turbine, 2k me, all 135, and no internal rec.
Just got the call to be put in the hiring pool. Looks like 2 people will be put in training a month for the rest of the year.
So impressed at the whole operation. Great people! It was a little intimidating, but I could tell they wanted me to succeed.
Flew the metro for key lime, and fly a king air for an air ambulance operation now.
Best advice is to be yourself. They want to see if they can stand a 7 day trip with you.
Best of luck comrades!

I really did not dig too far into all the details, I just got a general idea of what TT the other dudes had. One guy had 19,000hrs ex bankrupt airline guy with heavy time, thought that was crazy...........

Class Dates
Hey turbo,
I was told maybe October or November.
At least there has been a kabash on the 14/14 schedule. That was a huge part of me coming here. I work a 14/14 right now, and it is a nightmare. I was even thinking about turning down my class date if they were going to have me do that.
Hope you hear something soon buddy... take care

Flying the Piaggio
Can some of the Avantair pilots on this board speak to the pros/cons of flying the Avanti II? Looks like a fun airplane to fly. What do you like about it? What is it like moving from a larger jet aircraft (i.e., RJ, airliner) to the Avanti?
Also, seems like you guys regularly fly a lot of legs (not always, but I have seen 5-7 legs for some VNR aircraft on Flightaware). What is it like flying 5-7 legs in one day in an Avanti? Does the flying somedays resemble regional flying?

Schedules are still 7/7 so far. 14/14 was a past idea. I would guess hiring/classes to start again in OCT '10
