while that room may feel a little lonely; it’s numbers like these that bring the problem into sharp focus. Our management is very good a fixing ‘todays problem’ and I imagine our current hiring numbers are ringing alarm bells in HQ. It’s now obvious to all that this ‘once in a generation (or more) pilot market needs to be addressed, and the way to fix it in the immediate term is with money. The regionals proved it in 2015 (with signing bonus and doubled year one pay)
Current crews benefit from Premium OT and we get back to being a rapidly growing carrier. It’s much cheaper than canceling flights, and the folks in charge fully understand that.
