I’ve used ZEDs at my previous airline on foreign carriers but rarely domestic. From what I’ve heard, AA was your best shot to get upgraded to first class by the crew. Obviously our ZEDs were for economy cabin only, but if first class seats were open then I hear you had a 50/50 shot of getting upgraded by the crew. Foreign carriers generally have a different mentality and very rarely will upgrade you as a ZED passenger.

Economy only. Other carriers will only allow you on whatever equivalent class your airline offers. I will say though, Both Lufthansa and Condor were nice and put me and my wife in premium.

They are also much larger? Not sure the inner workings of these agreements but I’m guessing we’re doing as well as we can at our current size? Total guess though..would love to improve them for sure.

Honest question, how many of you actually use your benefits? Not jumpseting on other airlines by yourself or commuting. But actually using F9 travel for yourself and/or family for leisure travel. Do you ZED?
I had benefits on 3.5 majors at my last job, and can probably count on 1 hand how many times I used them for leisure pass travel. I used them to commute for a bit, and to get myself home earlier from CQ or to get home earlier than the scheduled Deadhead at the end of a trip. But actual leisure travel, never did it. My parents never did either. Any time I traveled (like the miracle week I managed to get off for our anniversary trip), I just bought tickets because the last thing I wanted to do was standby travel when we had plans.
Anyway a few pages ago someone was touting the benefits but I couldn’t tell if it was facetious or not. I expect I’ll mostly just use it for the same. Getting myself home from training breaks, maybe if I have to commute at first.
