No thanks. Overpriced. No hat.

Good point. Nothing has changed. The hat is still optional. Unless of course you want that new jacket. If nobody ordered one until the hat requirement went away I’ll bet that would happen with a few weeks.

This is the union’s fight, I wouldn’t protest it out on the line by being out of compliance.
The word optional doesn’t appear in our contract to my knowledge (outside of the hat). Crew scheduling’s discretion does in a few sections. All I did when reading the TA was assume their always going to do worse case when applying that language. The uniform language didn’t change. There’s nothing to dispute.

It is stated in our contract, I believe the verbiage was something along the lines of, “ the uniform hat may be purchased at the pilots option.”

There's plenty of discussion about the Jacket over at Spirit and Southwest's' corners of APC.
I took a quick look at WN and the public order links at Karbon. Lead time for the (mandatory) name badge is 4-7 weeks. I don't think anyones' going to be seeing these under their Christmas trees.

Sorry Fixed it. Bottom line the company is complying with the uniform language. It’s not opening any doors for them to argue other language is optional. Not even maybe. Memo’s are generally completely disregarded in arbitration hearings. Its intent then practice in that order. The intent is clear and practice established in this case. There’s nothing to dispute. Good luck if someone wants to try.

We had a memo in arbitration from the DO stating pilots were not required to call the day before a training displacement (previously know as reassignment). How did that work out? Didn’t matter. It’s intent then practice.

I’ll pass on the new jacket

What a middle manager f up this has become. This could have been a positive experience for all but they just couldn’t help themselves. It’s actually a real shame.
Requiring a hat with the karbon jacket was a mistake and completely unnecessary.

Agreed... will not be getting the new jacket because of the hat clause.

I appreciate your stance on this.
