At my regional, we are allowed to do out-of-base reserve very easily. As someone who is hoping for PHL but knows PHX/LAS is the hot assignment out of training for at least a month, is there any possibility of doing out of base reserve in PHL even though technically being LAS/PHX based?

Along those lines, can IOE be scheduled out of any base?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve never heard of out of base reserve being allowed, but IOE can be scheduled anywhere. Whether it not they choose to us up to their discretion.

You can drop rdp’s. No idea how easy that is (without looking it up I believe it’s thier discretion) but the next few months are 60hr months so drop the first 3. After that pickup on days off in phl then drop more rdp’s as the credit increases with the pickups. Play that game. I was able to do that for months to avoid a cross country commute but as a lineholder.

Yeah I remember your suggestion to do it early or else risk losing the parking election. I’m fine with just getting the $36 for now, letting it accrue for 3-4 months will more than offset whatever commuting I might have to do that first month, since I just got my transfer back home. Just checking I wouldn’t miss out on the parking reimbursement in the meantime if I elected April parking right now. Thanks.

The date for submitting your parking election is on the VSA award in Flica. You can call you base CP to ask if you would still get the $36 if you sent in you election now - which I believe you would not. You haven't changed bases yet so why would you lose the stipend...

I mean I believe you WOULD continue to get the stipend... Sheesh I think I was going to type "would not lose". Anyway, enough on that.

How is the opening of DFW base going to affect the seniority at other bases? I'm a new hire, coming to the 1/22 class.

Thanks!

Welcome to Frontier.

Every time we open a new domicile we seem to shrink one or two others a bit to feed the new one. So unfortunately you can probably expect to see some of that. Not sure what base they are likely to do that with this time. As far as the seniority of Dallas goes, I think it'll be similar to all the other non Denver bases. The top 25% will be pretty darn senior and the bottom 75% will be junior.

Which bases are likely to shrink to feed DFW: my guess is primarily Vegas and maybe a little DEN. Vegas has grown significantly in the past year so maybe they feel they can do that? I think the first bid for DFW should show up in a month or two.

noob question - When will the base bid that will be awarded May 1 be open? Do you have to bid for that specifically or does it pull from the system bid? TIA.
