No problem. What did you need to decide on out of curiosity?

Wellllllll???

Being worried about bases growing and shrinking is more of a nuanced conversation. You live in MIA? Prob wouldn’t come depending on your alternatives, specifically NK/AA. Live near any other base I wouldn’t be AS concerned especially MCO and LAS.
Also depends on your other options. I wouldn’t turn down F9 to stay at a regional or similar but that’s just my opinion.

I currently live in PHX. I think I will end up stuck commuting and not get into PHX. Hard pass.

I’m a Aug class hire. I got LAS based through January. The next vacancy for PHX has +20 FO slots in for the month of February. It’s very possible that even the Sep and Oct classes will get PHX options.

I should get PHX for February and when it comes down to brass tax, IOE should take up all of November, with a realistic commute of 2 months to LAS. You pair this with a 2-3 year upgrade and over 40% day trips, and it isn’t a bad trade off whatsoever, especially in comparison to Alegiant if you’re into a PHX base with day trips.

Phoenix is supposed to grow to around 200 pilots. It’s at 117 currently so again I don’t think you’d have any issues getting into PHX if you get into a class this year or early next…

Warning on all of this, MIA was being built up but now cut in 1/2 - so things are very dynamic at F9.
I heard AA was using their connections in the local government to have Dade county apply pressure on F9. Threatening to reduce slots because of F9’s performance. Total BS if it’s true.

Ah. Perhaps my posts came off too negative but as a F9 west coaster I would advise you to reconsider. Even if PHX were to close, which is highly unlikely in the short term considering it hasn’t even opened yet, Vegas is an easy commute and junior. Vegas has nearly doubled in size in less than a half year and Phoenix just grew 20% in one month. Not exactly closing the doors out west.

Even if you get here and don’t get PHX or don’t like it here we are pretty much a golden ticket two the other two, maybe three, airlines that are based in PHX.

I just ran the numbers and it currently takes two months to hold PHX. Vegas and PHL are most junior. That doesn’t include the 20% growth that is scheduled to happen next month. My guess is you will be able to be in PHX and live a comfortable life.

I just want to make sure I got this right…because you can’t get PHX out of training you are gonna pass on a multi million dollar career path? Even though PHX is brand new, not full, and guys are getting it just a few months later? On second thought maybe you are making the right choice..
