Frontier vs Regional
Sorry for the clickbait title, kinda.
I have a friend who’d like some advice/guidance. He’s a Frontier Cadet whom has met his minimums. Recruiters are saying there is about a 2-4 month wait for an F9 class. He also has a mid-june class date with Endeavor.
Pretty much, he’s wondering if Frontier is worth the 1-3 month wait?(Assuming the recruiters date are accurate).
He plans on moving in base, so commuting isn’t a factor.
What are some things he should consider when making this decision?
Thanks in advance!

this shouldnt even be a question.
He should get to F9 at all costs over a regional any day of the week. Even if the F9 class was a month behind EDVs. Retiring here would be heaps better than sitting at a regional till you "hopefully" get to go somewhere else.
He might get an early spot if someone leaves also, my buddy got a month early.

Now hypothetical scenario: Let's say attrition slows, Airbus delay even more deliveries and that 2-4 month timeframe isn't accurate. With your knowledge/experience of how much better a major is than a regional, how many months would you be willing to wait for a class date over a regional?

I agree. I've never heard of anyone leaving a major airline to work for a regional.

If he’s that worried about it, tell him go to the regional, collect a paycheck, then go to F9 when the class happens.

Yeah what was said above... But even if the class for F9 was pushed 2 months after the regional, it would still be worth it.
If he is worried about the paycheck and job, go to EDV and wait for the F9 class and just leave.

I think he should read any agreement he signed with Frontier as a part of his cadet program (if there is any) and see if accepting employment with another airline would affect his status as a Frontier cadet before showing up to his Endeavor class.

Yeah forgot about that, this is also a big point. Not sure what the cadets sign.

This is a ridiculous question. The very viability of regionals is in question and a CRJ rating over a 320 rating? Really? Give F9 recruiting a call and let them know you want the first class date available and it shouldn’t take long. Why anyone would even ask if they should go to a regional flying CRJs that is bleeding CAs to the majors so badly the junior FOs don’t have enough CAs to get hours over a major that is bleeding FOs to the legacies that will fly their butt off and quickly gain them the hours to become competitive for the legacies is beyond me. In two years you’ll have maybe 900 hrs of CRJ SIC time at Endeavor or maybe 1100 of A320 time at F9.
which is going to do your career the most good?
