so nothing happens when there’s no meeting with management? Most, not all, are spending several days of prep work to meet with the company for one day. A meeting is the end result of days of prep time.
An example would be a recent sec 19. A pilot stuck their foot in mouth. A rep spent at least 6 hrs (working with legal, hr, crafting a coherent legal response letter) to keep this persons job and limit disciplinary action. Guess what it worked and saved this person millions in potential earnings. You’re not moving on from what this pilot said. Another example. One grievance settlement meeting with management=days of prep so you’re not giving away anything of any value while at the same time preserving language and trying to get pilots paid. That’s not something you prep for in a few hours. Brother your name checks out…. I can tell this is a sore subject for you and you’re clearly involved in something with the union. All I can tell you is taking a full month of FPL when nothing is actually happening is pathetic. Sure in your examples that’s acceptable but that’s not the norm that’s the exception. |

You can feel free to volunteer for an ALPA position that requires FPL and then let us know if it is considered "not busting your balls for pay" because the whole point of FPL is to not lose or gain from volunteer work.
You think they just sit around all day and then go to one meeting with the company every few months? You should call up MM and ask him what his deal is, I am sure that will be a nice learning experience for you. Also, the NC has their hands tied with what they can and cannot communicate to us. While they are our voice, they are negotiating for us, they are also signing and under NDAs for certain things when it comes to meetings with the company. This is why we have a whole national ALPA legal team which keeps this all in check. |

You’d be surprised how many fires get put out on a weekly basis. I am not saying there is nobody abusing it. What I am saying is you can’t tell by looking at FPL numbers alone. It’s not possible. I can also say these pilots are spending way more time dealing with management than I am flying airplanes. It’s not even close. |

What is in this “strategic plan” that caused our union to cancel a picket event? There is nothing real earth shattering or pivotal here. Not pointing fingers, just curious what our leadership was told by the company vs what we heard today.

It’s just another feather in the cap of us negotiating in good faith and them not in mediation. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong but it is that. |

Cool so we keep collecting feathers? What are we getting for those? I don’t think that moving the needle as much as we’d like to think. |

Collecting feathers is building an argument for release. So that’s what we would get for a whole bunch of those. We have way less right now than when we asked for release last round. That’s about it for me on the subject. Discussing internal union strategies is best left to phone calls and not public forums. |
One of our many challenges is our NC has nothing to show, no progress in years, just kick the can down the road with excuses and blaming management. The line pilots are getting fed up with what appears to be a weak and ineffective NC. Postponing the info picket for 30 days because we "[o]we it to them" was a clear demonstration of weakness. Not once did Dempsey mention improving the lives and work environment of those who get his flights out on-time. JD is nothing more than BB ver. 2.0. What a joke.

How can you be angry with the union and not the company? The NC is trying their best to move thru the process to get released or at least the threat of getting released by the NMB. It's a game and like it or not the union is playing it smartly. Direct your frustration towards the company, not the union. |

Again, this is just misdirected anger and frustration.
