We could be absorbed by any of the Big 4 and it be. A blip on their hiring radar. And United is trying to build an empire - something about 20,000 pilots. Whether that’s actually obtainable or not doesn’t matter as much as the will of some idiot CEO who has the backing and courage to make moves.
Of course anyone could buy us… but why would they. We don’t own any orders, we don’t have assets like sims buildings etc, our planes are short term leases and we are losing money. Added to this is that indigo would want a ridiculously large sum for us as they overvalue everything. Think back to when our IPO came out at $20… It should have been half that at least. We are nothing but a small blip on the legacies radar screen.

I've heard/read the arguments for not jumping ship for a long time. Maybe this time will be different, but jumping ship to a legacy has been the correct move except for short periods of time.

No I mean sounds like a literal accident waiting to happen.

I don’t live in a United base. If I were to leave the QOL hit I would take would lead to divorce. Then I would lose half or more of my hard earned money putting me beneath F9 pay. I would not get to see my kids for at least half of the time. Sounds great. Applied.

It's no different than F9, NK, G4, or all of the regionals. And all of them have good safety records.

But you feel comfortable with F9? They have a long and distinguished history of growing, shrinking, opening and closing bases on a whim.
And FWIW, it doesn't sound like your marriage is on very solid foundation if a move is enough to trigger a divorce.

I was referring to LJDriver about new hires being awarded captain in training. To me that sounds like a real problem. Legacy pilots come in this forum describing how great it is because you can be a captain so fast. But clearly being a captain that fast is not so great because it is going so junior.

An ya I do feel comfortable with F9. They can’t have a long and distinguished history of anything if they are only 10 years old. Growing at breakneck pace is difficult. Mistakes are going to be made. Your assessment of the situation is worst case scenario for F9 and best case for United. In reality things aren’t as grim as the picture you paint and it will probably be more in the middle. Spirit will disappear and we should fill in their void. We are still growing like a weed. Could it change? Certainly. Will it? TBD. I don’t claim to see the future as confidently as others. I’m certainly not going to upend my life over 1 quarter with loss.

Foundations great man. I took a HUGE paycut to come to F9 and it has worked out excellent for my family. Truly. To go to United would be forcing myself into commuting. That would be intentionally hurting my family for just a few bucks. I still value my time with my kids more than any job so speaking for only myself Frontier is easily more valuable of a career spot than United. But those that want to leave for their own reasons I’m all for it. Faster the exodus the faster the contract.

I would be more worried if I was constantly losing money like Breeze.... But one quarter of small losses, I dont think the sky is falling like everyone says.

Wall Street is a fortune teller, and it sure thinks the sky is falling.
