[QUOTE=Heisenberg;1746960]I was offered an interview later this month. The recruiter I spoke with said he thought the only class date being offered from this interview date was November 17.
I completely understand what seniority means and that you should never pass up a class date.
However, I have a incredibly packed schedule for the rest of the year (vacation that I've paid for months ago, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) and I don't know if I'd be able to make that class if I were offered it. Does anyone know what sort of new hire class outlook there is for next year besides what the potential number of new hires may be?
I am by no means taking this for granted, but if offered this opportunity, I don't know if I could take it before the new year.
Any information or advice?
FWIW...there was an outstanding gentleman that I interviewed with last year. He was offered the job however he could not make the initial class we were assigned. He explained his prior commitments and asked to get into the following class. He was not given that opportunity. It worked out well for him because a couple months later he was hired at JetBlue, but if you get offered the job plan on going to the class you're assigned or plan on going elsewhere.

On this I'd have to disagree.
Take the interview and see how you do.
IF you get an offer you will Then, have a chance to think about it, and if the dates will work or not.
IMHO - I think after explaining your previous plans, commitments & costs, they Should be understanding enough to work with you. If they really are planning to hire more than just that 1st class, then whats the problem with letting someone take the next one?
Again, just MHO but they are real people too, and realize that although someone recieved a chance to interview it was just that - a chance, and most people make family, vacation, & financial plans based on their current situation, Not a future possibility.
Give it a shot - Good luck to you.!!

You misinterpreted my post sir. I was simply stating what I personally saw take place. I was in NO way expressing my opinion nor was I agreeing with the decision they made. Obviously it makes sense to allow an individual to take care if any personal issues they need to deal with prior embarking on a long training process, however it's not what they did.

There seems to be a lot of interviews happening soon for one Nov class. Is it normal to have many interviews for a few positions. Or do you think this might be an indication of more hirings to come. The more I read the more confused I get. I guess that's life in the airlines
