Another thing that I don't think was mentioned: you can put yourself on a volunteer list to be called on days off for extra flying. This flying (if they call you) is payed above gauruntee. However it's not like going into open time, seeing a trip you want to do, and picking it up in your days off for extra pay.

At my current regional on 4th year pay, I'll break 60K at FO pay. If you can't even pick up OT trips, thats a decent pay cut on first year. What type of trips are line holders seeing? Locals? 4-5 day pairings?

Just in: Regional FO slams Frontier pay. Haha. Listen bro, Frontier is a step up from the right seat in a RJ. It is a step up from the left seat in a RJ. Not just in pay but also in quality of life. If you can't afford one year of sacrifice, then you have committed the biggest sin in the regional airline industry by not being able to afford to quit. But whatever... To each their own. Just don't be mad that you "held out for Delta" and didn't get the job 3 years from now. Meanwhile you could have went to Frontier and been sitting in upgrade class with a shiny new contract and $180/hr.

But here's the deal. You probably won't be on reserve very long if we are really hiring "20 - 24 / month indefinitely"
Once you can hold even an 'un-awarded relief line' then you can start padding up your credit time pretty much at will. I have a buddy, been here 1.5 yrs, and has credited over 100 hours most every bid after being here about 6 months. And even on RSV back in his time, he was getting VJA's to beef well beyond 75. That's probably not as easy to do now as we're staffed. However, once they run upgrade classes and the FO side gets a little thinner, summer T-stoms, etc. They'll be some VJA and JA calls for you money grubbers
to take advantage of.I personally think my buddy is crazy, his brand-new $50K sports car is always sun-baking in the employee lot, but then again if we were all the same the world would be pretty boring - so to each his own.

As for trips, if you are a line holder in the back of the pack you are holding 4-5 day trips with most likely redeyes in them.
Good luck on your decision whether to take a first year pay cut?

@Ramrod, bro, I was a long time lurker and never posted on these forums for a reason lol, thank you.
@Sulkair- I appreciate your response. I've "held out" for Frontier and is the only airline I have applied to. Your response is the reason I posted questions. I'll be attending the job fair in ORD in May. I hope to sell Frontier on my resume and really hope to enjoy a career with a product I believe in.

Bolo….lol.…really didn't anticipate defending myself on the forums. Are ya'll like that at Frontier? Did you start at a regional as well and forget what it's like to ask these questions? Let me remind you- I'm at SKW…it's not a bad gig and will upgrade this summer…It's not such an easy decision when you have a family to take care of.

But thanks for reminding us you're from Skywest. I hope your little reminder doesn't negatively affect other applicants from Skywest. From what I've seen, they're usually some pretty good folks.
