So if A Skywest has an operating revenue of 1 billion are we going to call them a major as well! I am just trying to figure out the ever changing definition of what a "major" airline is.
My definition of a major is making $1 Billion a year operating revenues flying your own passengers. Ie. Not Uniteds (UEX) Deltas (DCI) AMericans (AE). DOT doesnt agree with me.:) TEN |

Skywest, Republic, Eagle etc; they are all majors.

Republic is not a Major. They are a National.
Like the above poster said, they don't fly a single passenger who purchased a ticket to fly on 'Republic'. Frontier not paying for a hotel (if true) is just amateur hour. |
Anyone who applies for employment should understand why F9 is hiring. It is based on attrition only, there is no growth planned for the immediate future. We have a few pilots who are on VLOA through the end of this year and into early 2014. F9 is a good place to work but the total benefits package and QOL is no where near where it used to be. If you apply also understand there are tons of un-answered questions about the future, although the seperation from RAH is viewed a step in the right direction. Good Luck

Republic is NOT a major by any stretch of the imagination. I don't give a **** what the DOT definition says. I agree that to meet the definition you should fly your own ticketed passengers and operate solely Boeing or Airbus products. Leave the Brazilian and Canadian **** boxes in the desert where they belong.

Neither does Delta, they still amateur hour?
The EMB happens to be a fine bird and knows when it's in ice unlike the Airbus. Why do you constantly rag on RJ guys? Skybus was flying the Airbus. Were they a Major? 'Constantly rag?' Wth are you talking about? |
