and then in this one you post Comair will do it? Which is it?

BTW, the only pilot group that will fly MRJ's for Delta is DELTA PILOTS!!
Hope you all stick to those guns!!! Got my support!

hahaha

ummm...actually...GJ and TSA do. They share ALL of those things. Compass was just purchased, its only a matter of time before they share everything too.

My guess is that uncle hulas is flush with some cash, and is a betting man...

- The MRJ is one of several new airplanes which will use the P&W geared turbofan. This will provide a significant reduction in fuel burn.

- If (when) oil prices go up, airlines may start parking 50's and replacing them less frequent, but more efficient airplanes.

Just having a pole position on the assembly line might make him some money, he doesn't have to operate them for anyone, he could just sell them at a markup, or lease them, etc.

I think he's betting on oil with this move.

Not sure why he picked the MRJ as opposed to the C-series, at least bombardier is proven to be capable of building airliners. Maybe seating capacity, if he wants to operate them himself the MRJ is closer to US scope limits.

thank you.

ok...love him or hate him. HK is NOT a betting man. anybody who has been through TSA or GJ initial has heard RL's speech how they will not grow the company for the sake of making it bigger. theyll only engage in business that is profitable. theres obviously no such thing as a "sure thing" in aviation but HK is always looking for the next best thing. i'm sure ill get death threats for sayin this but again, love him or hate him...hes no dummy.

Unless you think oil will stay below $100 for the next 20 years, an airplane with GTF engines (15% fuel savings) is not too risky of a bet. Assuming you trust P&W to deliver reliability.

As the thread starter pointed out, the notion that Gojet is cheaper than TSA is not correct. Plus the Gojets pilot contract isn't up for another few years. The carrot will be dangled and the red headed step child is more than likely going to get the MRJs. Gojet is flying 70 seaters, Compass is flying ERJ170s. TSA is flying crappy 50 seaters which will be obsolete soon... Who do you think is going to bite?

my bet will be TSA since the contract is up. and they're promising at least the first 10 when we sign it. But again TSA operating costs the same as Gojet. Gojet is TSA, same contract, same work rules.

From what we've been told there are only a few airlines that TSH can fly the 70+ seat MRjs, one of them being Alaska.
