Hulas is a weasel. Weasels do this kind of BS.

There wasnt going to be any negotiation involved anyways, and Hulas knew this.

TSA created G7 because the scope in TSA's pilot contract allowed it. As simple as that.

With that said, I would probably have beef with any pilots that jumped ship at that precise moment. But I sure as hell wouldnt point a finger to a comair guy for making a decision that he thought was best for him. Hell, I never heard any other regional pilot group offering money from their monthly paycheck to pay for those Comair pilot's bills and mortgage.

TBucket, honest question here: I know all this G7 stuff happened before you where even hired, but do you know if any pilot actually jumped ship from TSA to G7 when it was started? No sarcasm here, honest question...
No, it didn't. Hulas, being the clever weasel that he is, created a holdings company (a la Trans States Holdings) and then created GoJet.

And yeah, there were a number of TSA pilots that abandoned their brothers in order to get a super senior number at GoJet.

Precisely, that's one of the many loopholes that TSA's pilot contract's scope didnt have well covered to protect them against whipsawing/alter-ego airlines.

And I suppose that makes GoJet's creation legitimate?

It couldn't have been done without the cooperation of other pilots who only cared about bypassing more senior/experienced pilots to better themselves instead of trying to help the regional situation as a whole. The flying still would have been there, lots of hiring and upgrades (just at TSA instead of another lowball regional)...but maybe the pay would now be better for those 70 seaters. My father used to tell me how it was a brother/sisterhood of pilots but I guess that's with military where you had to protect each others' a$$! Now I suppose with regionals it's all about me...

I'm sure it's that way in any industry anymore, sad though.

My buddies dad retired from AA in the early 90's after 34 yos. It interesting to hear him talk about the golden days of the airlines. When all pilots made the same amount of money regardless of who they flew for. When it was a privilege to fly rather than a right and people didn't wear their pajamas on airplanes. We talked about deregulation and he almost went silent. The only thing he told me was that the "brotherhood" ended that year. It was no longer about the group rather holding on to what each individual had. He is now a consultant and has yet to see any pilot group sacrifice for the greater good be it major, cargo, or regional. The free market and competition has killed the profession in his eyes. I don't know, just food for thought. I recommend talking to the old guys about what it used to be like. Very enlightening.

Just don't have that talk with a loaded gun anywhere near your open mouth.
