GoJet updates

I figured I'd give this a try since all the other Gojet fourms have been closed. I'm not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers. I'd like to keep this thread open for guys who are looking for info.

Hiring: Hiring just recently picked up. No one is sure for the reason it picked up, but we had a class of 8 this month and they are trying to fill a class of 30 something next month. The minimums are hard at 1500. We have hired a wide variety of people. Most new folks are former OH (like I am) or 9E or flight instructors. I would say lately, 80-90% have been former 121. Despite what people might think, we have a wide variety of guys from very different backgrounds. Also, currently we aren't hiring street captains, but that could change at anytime. Upgrade mins are (4500tt, 1000 turbine)

New hire info: New hires are put up double occupency in STL. They have recently changes the hotel, so maybe someone else can chime in as to where we are staying.

Bases: Current bases are RDU, STL, and ORD. ORD is by far the most senior, however, very junior guys are able to hold ORD.

I hope this helps.

That is what management is saying. That said, next month we are hiring double the amount of people we lost this month.

What's most junior non-street captain DOH? APC shows 4-2012. Is that correct?

Are you guys in that hotel with the decent indian place upstairs?

I was there last summer as a crash pad. Good times.

Also...in.

They keep changing the hotel. That has been one of the hotels. I don't believe it is the current one.

I have many friends who are waterskiers. I respect you guys a great deal. I don't wish you any I'll will. I'm here at G7 because its best for my family. I was happy to hear you guys are growing and that your upgrade times are going down. I hope it gives you a shot in the left seat.

Do you have the time to upgrade?

Why does Gojets have a bad reputation?

Its a looooong story. I won't address it here. If you do a forum search, you can find the answer.

ENCCFI 02-20-2013 05:12 PM

What are chances getting RDU out of training? And how does the 4500TT upgrade where they match 1:1 for 1000 hrs work? CFI with 2500TT. Would that mean I could fly right seat one year, get my 1000 hrs, they match 1000, thus be at 4500 and be qualified for upgrade in perfect world?

You are correct with the 1:1 credit up to 1000hrs.

So far, everyone who wants Rdu out of training has been awarded it.

You meet the minimums for sure. Interview is personality based. They want to make sure you will pass training and that they can get along with you on a 4 day trip.

As far as commuting, where would you be comming from?

cessna74 02-20-2013 05:29 PM

Go Jet

North East AR

Not sure on the commute. ORD might be your best bet.

How about getting STL right out of training? I'm assuming from the thread so far that is doable?

I am really happy to see a civil info exchanges about GoJet

block30 02-20-2013 07:42 PM

I guess I am not allowed to ask why people are looking at Go Jets ahead of Trans States.

To my knowledge Trans States is still hiring.

I'd like to see the GJ threads let alone more so we don't have yet another thread asking the same questions about the same company. I get to read over and over that people are surprised to find out there is a controversy about GJ.

People like GJ, and people don't. I personally enjoy having the option to know the "scuttlebutt" in the industry before making decisions. I'd rather know the skinny here, so I know how better to deal with people off the forums. It's nice to know what the sensitive subjects are ahead of time. So people say "in before the lock." I don't see why that is infraction worthy, but that's not my call. But gees, just about anything and everything else pertaining to GJ is edited or deleted unless its pro GJ or just the facts. OK fine, but the ability to express differing opinions and perspectives is an important part of communication and the expression of feelings is something I'd expect from human interaction. We can be mad and flustered--heck, even laugh and be cheeky about a number if things, but not this subject.

I enjoy and respect the mods, but the GJ stuff is over moderated.

Well...you'll have to take the good with the bad; and as long as both keep within the TOS the thread will live.

GoJet circumvented Trans States Airlines collective bargaining agreement. Any pilot who goes to work for GoJet is simply saying, "Yes, we know, that's okay with us. It's okay to cheat other pilots out of what is rightfully theirs." And don't give me any of that, "Well, the court said otherwise" crap. Damn what the court said.

No Mod can disagree with this fact.

What are some opinions on having GoJet on your resume? What is the current jump seating situation? Any plans of expansion in Denver?

Circumvented the CBA in the same way Pinnacle Corp bought Colgan and operated Colgan separately as a non-union entity. Stop the presses, unlike the 9E pilots, Hulas gave the TSA pilots a chance to fly the 70 seaters at a certain wage rate. TSA's MEC thought it was too low and wanted more, but they had no leverage. In this industry you negotiate and fight with leverage, without it you have nothing to fight with.

And yeah, the court said Colgan had to be a single operation for us back then, which would have led to an SLI with Colgan, but then the judge went back on his word.

And what do you mean "damn what the court said." You'd make a perfect USAPA pilot.

GoJets is on the reciprocate list of almost all other legacy/major/regionals, so you will not have any issue. Anyone with a small male size organ decides to give you hard time and denies you, thank them, but make sure you note their name, airline, flight number, and date, and then go through your jumpseat coordinator to get to the bottom of it. I guarantee you that pilot will be getting a call from one of his jumpseat committee members asking more about the situation. Jumpseat wars against GoJets are mostly online forum tough talk, you shouldn't have any issue on the line in real life.

As for GoJets on your resume, no one in airline HR cares about regional pilot squabbles! For that matter, most major airline pilots don't keep up to date with that stuff either. All that matters is the flight time and quality on your resume. GoJet pilots have left to move onto legacies and majors. I know one who went to Fedex and a couple at VX too, Spirit, and JetBlue.

The boys in the Majors want to know what squadron you flew in. 90% of the guys have no idea what regional turd you got shot out from nor do they care.
Like someone posted earlier, HR could care less about regional squabbles. Most pilot's doing the interviews are mngt. pilot's anyways.
