I love it when guys take a stand on the internet and in the crew room. Unfortunately saying and doing are two completely different things.

You could hold your head up high and say you didn't apply for a job for moral reasons as the Sheriff gives you 7 days notice to evict your now foreclosed on house. I would shovel **** for $1 if I had to. When you are the head of your household, you need to do what's right for your family, even if that means you get crossed off a few pilots christmas card lists.

You can win the battle but lose the war.

Well, I can speak for myself.... Yes, I was pretty much in the same situation as Comair but G7 never made my radar as potential place of employment...

Who cares lol what's with the updates new hires ? In march ?

Yes you can if you prepare and have a clean record. Your friends that got "shotdown" either 1. Didn't prepare adequately enough for the interview or 2. Lack a clean background. Both RPand Eagle are offering bonuses meaning.... If you're offered to interview the job is pretty much yours...
As for the MD80 guy with 12000tt.... Flight time/experience doesn't promise a job. Being interview ready, no hiccups and a clean background does.
Being that G7 pretty much takes anyone with a heartbeat convinces me that they had exhausted their options through fault of their own.

Well good for you. For some its a good fit, others not so much. I personally don't let political B.S. influence my decision when I look for a flying job. I think what is best for my career, my family, and my pocket. I would never cross a picket line, but if Delta closes an airline and shifts its flying to a new airline, thats their doing. Of course if every pilot refused to go there it would stop, but that will never ever happen. If anyone should take blame for this, it should be the unions.
They talk a good talk and take your money but they are in effect toothless tigers.

Its all just a big game at the end of the day. The big boys don't care who they upset or who's lives they disrupt when they make their moves. There is no loyalty, no fairness, no integrity, just corporate greed.

By the way, I don't have a dog in this fight. I don't fly for G7 or TSA. Just trying to think what I would do if I was in the same boat. Valid arguments on both sides I guess.

Well then enlighten all of us. What was your "pretty much the same situation?" And who did you end up with? How many of your brothers and sisters have you personally vouched for from Comair who needed jobs? Did you stand up and refuse to turn a wheel until they got hired?

Fact is, GoJets is getting ready to begin Section 6. Fact is, ALPA has it's nose out of joint because Prater couldn't get the management to can the GoJets pilots. And given the way they have treated regionals to keep the legacies happy...

So...fill us all in "Slats"...

Pilotguy143 03-09-2013 02:08 PM

As I said earlier, I choose G7 because it was best for my family and I.
I refuse to judge someone because of the choices they made for their family.

Now back to the updates......

SO they will start section six, lets see if they beat RAH to a contract?

Or better yet lets see if the company puts out an offer and calls it "last and best offer" with the teamsters clause and what is happening at RAH.

Incidentally, and not get ahead of myself, but how's training? Everyone fly from the left seat, or just Street C/As/CQFOs? I presume everyone gets a PIC type...are they harder on the CQFOs? Esimated washout rate? I ask because back when last I paid attention to these things, TSA was sort of famous for a "build the aircraft" oral and high washout rate. Thanks!

Training is fair. Not "easy". A few people wash out, I can't imagine if you gave it a 100% effort you would have much trouble. Depending on your sim partner, you may do some sim time in the left seat and then right seat. No one at GoJet is trying to have you "build the aircraft". They want you to succeed.

It's not a bad place to be. Lot's of mature, professional pilots.

Slats, not the case. I know MANY pilots (myself included) with thousands of hours turbine PIC, college degrees, years of 121 and 135 experience, zero pink slips or other such zombies in the closet that can't even get to the interview point. Much of that today, from what I was told by an HR person at a major, was that since computers "grade" the initial sort, anything that doesn't meet 1 simple parameter gets kicked to the curb because the computer can't see beyond that. You could be Chuck Yeager but if you only flew 300 hours in the past year, but the company wants 400, oh well thanks but no thanks. Now if you were talking strictly regionals, I'd tend to agree with you, however it seems experience hurts you these days as well there too. They want guys right by ATP mins, not the furloughed 5000 hour guy who is gonna bail since he already has his stuff in at a major.

skyypilot 03-12-2013 05:45 PM

So, thinking about trying to get an interview with GoJet. The dom is St Louis works great for me and my family. Are they really looked down upon by everyone else? I feel that its a little odd myself. Most if not all of the pilots there had nothing to do with the split off. So why is everyone still so p***ed? Now mind you I am not in the 121 now, and I havent followed all of the politics. I have read this link through. Any advise will be helpful! Thanks

This thread does not have all the background story. I suggest you use the search function to find additional threads, if anything it'll be a great read to educate yourself on how things happened, it'll give you a much better perspective and help you make a better decision.

Stirring up the past on this thread would lead to a lock by the mods. This thread has gone surprisingly well for some time at providing updates on the company, hiring, etc. I'd say let's try to keep it that way...

:)

FAA was in the Jumpseat flying to JFK to do an inspection on JFK MX. He said because because you guys are taking some CRJ700s from GoJet. He said MX program was in the approval process with MSP FSDO right now.
He said he didn't know how many, his job was just to approve the program.

Judging by his screen name I would probably assume Skywest or air Wisconsin.

If they were looking at JFK MX, they might not be so impressed.

So is GoJet losing some 700's? I thought they were penciled in for more flying.

English please PCL. Please reword and repost your comment. I have no idea what your trying to say. It's like when my gf says: it, them, and they.

Aw man, sorry guys. What a shame. I certainly hope nobody made a decision to go there based on that "quick upgrade." We only want the best for our "brothers and sisters" at GoJet.

Nothing tangible but rumors are flying around my company that Delta is pulling some 700s from G7 due to poor on time performance. Cancelled classes would tend to back up that rumor though.

Didn't they just start a class Monday ? Have a friend called for a may 7th class are they going to cancel his class ?

campingalan 03-14-2013 08:39 AM

I can't speak for classes already scheduled. However, the Dir of Pilot Recruiting at the ATL job fair this last week indicated that they generally not going to be offering any further classes until this summer.

If I were making an assumption, I'd say 1) determining new contracts/business 2) maintaining existing contracts and 3) determining what the level of attrition that will begin this summer with regards to existing pilots moving to a different opportunity are all factors that most of the companies will be heavily considering as they add/delete training opportunities.

Maintenance and dispatch the main reason

Believe me, this much I know, and yes from experience, as does Carl. The not so subtle undertones of the message was my reason for commenting.
