Hahaha, I love how many people believe this. What planet are you living on? The getting hired by any of the majors is still hyper competitive, and will continue to be for quite a long time.
I fly with TONs of guys who are super qualified, and hustle their asses off trying to get picked up by a major, and are still waiting, and will continue to wait. I'm not saying there isn't a lot of opportunity right now, but this idea of ""get in, get your time, and get out to a major in 2-3 years" is a fantasy. It's just not happening, at least right now.
So why not at least go to a regional that isn't a raging dumpster fire, and go to a place with at least somewhat decent pay, work rules, and management?

Most trips in STL from what I see may or may not be commutable. Some months I get 15+ days off, other months it's 12 days off. I don't commute so life is easy. From what I know, ORD is by far the best base for commuters. On a side note, Gojet is not the nightmare others make it out to be. 8 months in you can hold a really good line with almost any days off you request. Captain upgrades are quick and the pilot group is super tight knit. Good luck with your choice.

Pffffttt. Rubbish dood. They may ask you why you chose Gojets and I will tell them it's because of the RDU base. If I'm going to be beat up at the regional level (they all do it), I might as well get the best QOL I can since I live in Raleigh correct? I'm not going to defend G7, pilots are adults, they can make their own decisions but this place isn't nearly the monster you portray them to be. Our contract and pay is much better now. Fly the plane, build the time and go where ever you want in 3-5 years.
Each person there needs new people to go there in order to move up in seniority or to upgrade. Each has a vested interest in getting you to go there. There are better choices.

First, STL is a terrible commute from pretty much everywhere. Not a lot of flights, multiple jumpseaters fighting over flights from hubs (which are mostly on 50 and 70 seat planes...). Unless you are driving and live halfway in BMI, CMI, PIA, I'd say a commute to Chicago is hands down better than STL. On top of the commute sucking, Chicago is likely to have better trips because it is a hub. STL is more likely to have 5 AM show on the first day and 11PM arrival on the last... making your commute that much worse.
Second, if you are wanting a Chicago base, there are much better options than G7...

Gojet will need to get some ERJ-175s to keep the Chicago base open, at least for United. United has made it clear the 700s are leaving Chicago. Nobody likes having 40 people standing in a jetway waiting for their bags in the middle of the winter.
Any word on new planes for G7? I know the TSA negotiated themselves the MRJs if they ever come. I'm not sure that was a good move. "On 24 December 2015, Mitsubishi announced a one year delay for the first delivery of the MRJ, to mid-2018. The delay was attributed to insufficient wing strength and the redesign of the landing gear for better safety."
And why would they get 175s for G7 when Compass already can do that flying?
