It went down the slippery slope to Andrew Johnson, who was impeached and almost removed from office. Many believe he was part of the planning to assassinate Lincoln. Johnson was clean shaven. Was it due to Lincoln wearing a beard? Hmmm…

Are you forgetting the poor guy was murdered?? Dude get elected to president, grows a beard, gets assassinated.

Back on topic, did having many many US Presidents with beards lead us down the slippery slope of facial piercings and miniature horses crapping on passengers as has been claimed here by the “get off my lawn” crowd?

Slippery is an attitude. Want me, dig my goatee. It's a long outrigger ride to Kona. Some guys look put together under designer stubble. Some don't. Lady beards? Have to leave that up to you young'uns. The fella stamped on quarters wore powdered wigs. Also had wood teeth, slaves & a rusty axe in the barn. Change needs special attention when it goes flying.

As to your counting there were five with full beards and another seven with sideburns, chops, mustache, etc for a total of 12 Presidents with facial hair.
