I offered no opinion on the matter just the numbers. However you see it is how you see it. Maybe you feel to many AA, Others, AAF, or females got hired.
I don't begrudge UAL on who they choose to hire in any way. I'm sure they are all fine pilots. I simply presented the numbers to dispute this silly myth that all the "Special Intrest" move to the front of the line. Those numbers make up the bottom of the seniority list not just what a few backwards thinking folks believe.

What's the ratio of outside the majority demographic that has applied/been hired compared to those that are inside the majority demographic?

I think some people who are calling white men racist / misogynistic are missing some points. Ask yourself some hypothetical questions.
If you or your loved one needed brain surgery to survive, is one of the prerequisites that they need to be a minority or a woman? Are you OK choosing a doctor who is less qualified/experienced, or maybe might have received some sort of favoritism just because of how they were born? And therefore less qualified. Most (normal) people the answer is a resounding no. You look for the best, most qualified, most experienced doctor money can buy.
Was the problem with th colgan crash the fact that there's was only one woman up front? Not two. Would two women have made the difference because they were women? What if they were black? Still a difference?
Now with that being said, the regionals vs majors are a rat race and a scam. And delta, American, and United can do whatever the **** they want. But let's be honest. If they are hiring people who are less qualified bc of minority or female status. Then yes. There's something to be said for that. Why are we OK with people who might be less qualified flying jets around with us and our families on board?
