You're right, good logic. That's how we should think about the dozens of guns brought through security by the flying public. There are 100000000+ adult Americans, so guns coming through security is statistically just going to happen. Not a big deal.
Good work on being statistically exceptional KC135.
And yes, a pilot getting caught bringing a gun through security is going to marginally take away from the respect given to all of us, not to mention contributing to the likelihood of all of us losing expedited security, which is the more irritating part to me. Especially when, unlike other mistakes, this is such an unforced error.

The southwest pilot is today's tool of the day and if it compromises KCM he should be treated to a kick in the gonads by the entire pilot population. His name is out there, let's give him a grand thank you for his actions. If he only slept with the gun under his pillow....
The Darwin Award awaits.

When the SKW brought a gun through, we all thought KCM would go away....
When the UAL pilot had ammo on him on going to Europe, we all thought KCM would go away.....
This doesn't bode well for KCM, but it probably won't be threatened any time soon.

Or the USAIR captain that shot a round off in the cockpit

Do you have more details on that one? I don't remember and actual firing.
Whole different deal...........
And as usual, there's A LOT more to that specific event. Sure, the FFDO hater crowd LOVES to use that incident. But as mentioned, more to that than what's commonly discussed.

Perhaps my sarcasm wasn't apparent. It is *literally* KC135's argument that, statistically, guns will turn up at security. His response, again, literally: "stuff is going to happen"
No straw man involved. Unless of course you're saying that a pilot getting caught with a gun at security is less serious than a member of the public.
