This was the next “gem” after the peach tree rant over our failed TA. What an ass. I looked up the atl chart and he should not have turned onto Lima.
Sorry if it’s a repost but this dude deserves a honorary tool of the year

I didn’t call her Captain and automatically assumed she was an FO. It was a dick move.

What people are geting at is why not just always treat both pilots with the same courtesy regardless of rank? It's very telling that that hasn't even crossed your mind...lol

Concur. When I was in the left seat at a regional I flew with many pilots that had some serious and humbling bonadides. Majors and colonels who had been passed over by the majors. 135 pilots who had twice the turbine PIC time that I had in conditions 10x more challenging. I had four stripes on my shoulder and they "only" had three not because I was somehow a better pilot or had achieved more (I'm not and I hadn't) but because I had been slogging away in the regional game longer than they had. That's it.

Doesn’t matter what their background or their “rank” is, why would you thank one and not the other?

This. The plane doesn't go anywhere without the concurrence of both pilots. Don't be a douche. Acknowledge, introduce yourself and thank both pilots.

Yeah. That’s why I filed a ToolSAP report. And a douche check too.

Regional FO here. I’ve had plenty of jumpseaters that did not even acknowledge me while asking for a ride. On the other hand, I’ve had captains who barely acknowledge the jumpseater who has a seat in the back, but came up to say hi. Is common courtesy that hard?

I acknowledge both crew members and shake both of their hands. I also thank THEM for the ride. It’s just common decency.
