The plug has been put in place and mainline pilots are all trying to get back the flying. Wonder where you would wind up if all that flying was brought back in house?
A Jumpseat debate is separate from a scope debate. The shell game that is played for the Jumpseat by especially the Skywest folks is a huge land grab. Perhaps this will all be fixed someday. But in the end I suspect you would rather be in the mainline cockpit versus the RJ for your career. Maybe you would have a different opinion about Jumpseat’s if you sat in a different cockpit.

Pilots taking the only job available to them at the time (regional jobs), is solely the fault of scope sales...regionals don’t grow unless mainline scope allowed it. And not everyone could be in the military. Guarantee you 99% of regional pilots would rather be at mainline. If you guys didn’t sell scope, we wouldn’t be having this discussion and a butthurt mainline captain wouldn’t be whining about getting trumped by a regional guy on an RJ. Sorry...own it and bring it back. Legacies are printing money. But no legacy pilots are demanding to bring all the RJs back in house. So I think it’s hilarious and ironic when you all whine about an RJ driver trumping you in priority on a plane you gave away.

That argument was tired ten years ago. They had jobs. We didn’t. If you got a call, you went and if you didn’t there were fifty other dudes willing to. I guess we could have taken a stand, but nobody else seemed to be willing to. I guess also we could have just gone and sold insurance or some such crap.
