For whoever mentioned flip-flops (probably as a joke) reminded me of a Delta MAINLINE FA I saw strolling through LGA last summer in uniform except for the flipflops she was wearing. ***???

I was just seating and another pilot, was also jump seating. He comes up to me and says, "Hey, ummm do you know who that pilot is that works for you that wears heelies?, Yeah I was jumpseating the other day and I saw this pilot rolling down the jetbridge with a roller board and everything...."

A well broken in pair of good boots are very comfortable, and you don't get snow inside your shoes on winter days.

Sounds good. Never worn 'em. Aren't the soles really slippery?

Depends on the boot - some yes. If you go with something like an Ariat roper with a non-leather sole they are as good or better than the average dress shoe.

Ropers & Lacers Heritage Roper - Ariat

I actually haven't worn boots in quite some time, but they were a good option and I thought looked professional if you chose something reasonable (such as the roper). If you get too pointy and a bunch of stitching they can be as tacky as the aforementioned sneakers...

Boots dont concern me. Sunglasses worn inside the terminal. That's another story. Or the jump seater wearing sunglasses in the cabin on a night flight.

Considering I rarely ever land on paved runways (outside of my base), yea...I wear boots. I live in the frozen north where theres 6 feet of snow 8 months of the year, of the 4 months there is not snow, it's muddy soft and wet all the time.

If I was going from comfy terminal to terminal all the time, I'd probably wear some moderate dress shoes though...

My guess... trip-related clothing disaster. You see it every so often. It's possible her shoes were stolen in a hotel, and all she had left were her bathroom flops.

It can happen with men as well. $200 dress shoes are a high-ticket (theft) item in many parts of the world, reducing you to tennis shoes.

Maybe BUT most FAs have 2 pairs of shoes...heels and inflight flats. My bet is she ran for a one of those quick 10 minute pedicures. (btw the rest of her didn't look up to DLs uniform standards either).

Consider me TOTD! I do it because the FAs sometimes like to make the cabin into a European dance club when they can't figure out the cabin lights. Plus people are less likely to talk to me when I'm trying to sleep wearing sunglasses.

Or you could just use a set of eye shades like most people.
