Tool of the day
#4862
I have waited a long time for this individual's name to be brought up on this thread.
During one of my classes, while discussing airline labor relations, he discussed his role in the Continental strike of 1983 and how he crossed the picket line. When asked if he regretted his actions, he bragged to the class "I'm proud to be a scab!" Even in those early days of my career I understood the implications of crossing a picket line and my jaw just about hit the floor.
He went on to describe how all his Navy friends at Continental had turned their backs on him because of his actions. During the strike, he would antagonize and provoke the picketers and then call the police on them when they reacted in anger. His justification for crossing the picket line: he believed the strike was illegal and that he was helping save the company.
Very much a tool of the day!
PS He wears his Continental uniform to class including his ALPA lanyard...oh the irony.

He probably wears his unifom to bed too!
But...Where's his HAT?!
Everyone knows you're not a real Captain without the Hat!

(the absolute most gigantic tool I've flown with at DL was a guy that "hasn't worn his hat since 1997")

Where does one begin dissecting that?
He retired and wears his uniform.
He was a part time check airman for Amerijet and Planet Airways. He would where his EAL uniform around with all the regalia, even if he weren't flying. His uniform was fraying at the cuffs, the scrambled eggs on the hat were descrambling. It was a disgrace to the Pre 3/89 chaps, and to the profession. Worst of all he would take every opportunity to through anyone under the bus he could.
A. J..... Tool of the 20th, and probably the 21st Century, an a true piece of cr@p!

I remember when I was at Coex and staying at the Blocked Inn there was a super scab 777 Captain and a young one at that. There were Captains there who had striked and stayed out to the bitter end so they weren't exactly happy with that guy being there. In fact I came back after a trip once to find all of my stuff thrown in the floor, they had mistaken my stuff for his. Those guys apologized when they figured out it was friendly fire.
But the best was when a new hire Coex FO who didn't know much of anything on CAL history got to talking to the 777 Captain in a full living room and was so impressed about how relatively young this 777 Captain was and said "WOW, you are so young, what year were you hired?"
He actually didn't answer in the now quiet room.
