In contrast to that situation, I think ATL probably has the best controllers in the world.

You gotta like it when you're clearing the inboard runway, waiting for a chance to call ground and they call you first, "Delta 123, taxi Lima to Ramp 4."

Or, even better, on an early Sunday afternoon, landed ATL 9R, cleared at N10, tower (9R) says, "Cross 9L at Dixie, join Lima to the ramp, stay with me."

While on this, sometimes tower will instruct right after turnoff to contact ground on point eight, you switch over, and it is the SAME PERSON on ground frequency. Happens all the time in a larger delta I fly into late at night. Other times I'm able to taxi to ramp on tower. Why do you have me switch if it is just you and airport / frequency is not congested?

Not sure what this guy has done to deserve TOTD, but I think he's well on his way with an email identifying himself as a captain. Anyone who thinks they need to put "captain" in their email probably has an ego too big to fit in the cockpit.

Ehh, JFK does that all the time. Tower will tell you on clearing the runway, " Taxi to your gate, monitor ground." Same principle. They want you to keep rolling. Nothing torques off an ATL controller more than some jackwagon crossing the inboard and then coming to a crashing halt and blocking the three other planes behind them that were cleared to cross the runway.

Ummmm, there's A LOT of airports that do that. That's not special to ATL.

You guys never been to ORD before?

You can land 4R or 27L/9R (long way/clockwise flow over the bridge) and made it all the way to the gate without even talking to single controller UNITL right before entering the ramp and being told "thanks for not stopping".

Or simply cleared the runway and gone to the penalty box without ever having to tell a controller about it.
