I am looking to start my PPL. I was rejected for a student visa in USA. Any idea if there is a way to study outside of the USA and get an FAA license? Any such schools in Panama, Argentina or Mexico?

Grab your FOM, a beer, and put a football game on the TV. When's the last time you stuck your head into the FOM? The answer is often "in Indoc." Enter 'Captain' in the search function and start reading. I think it come up around 380 (??) times in AA's search function. Often worthless - Chief Muckity-muck is Captain YGBSM. But sometimes really worth knowing for a guy upgrading - "in the event of XYZ the Captain *WILL* do ABC." When you upgrade YOU are the guy responsible to see that the *WILL* occurs. Re-route? "The Captain *Will*" (that's YOU).... Change cruise altitude by more than X altitude? The Captain *WILL* (You...get the picture?). Make a note of the "Captain WILL" that you don't know off the top of your head. Easy peasy work....you're doing it with a beer and a football game on. It's a good refresher for the upgrade process. Also read, or re-read, the flying portions of the FOM - preflight, flight, post flight, etc. You aren't required to remember this stuff...you're just expected to remember "...isn't there something in the FOM about this??" Not certain? Find the answer. Don't guess and assume.

Default Student Pilot 0-Hero program

Hello friends, I've started career 2.0 and enrolled in an accelerated 0-Hero program at a Part 61 school in Centennial, CO.
My prior life was in sales & management, now I'm lucky enough in life to pursue aviation.

First and foremost... Welcome to the US! You need to obtain a right to work in the US. You will also need to obtain an FAA Certificate with ratings there on. You can research the FAA website for the process / checklist to start the process. Good luck.

I am confused as to how I unlock the ability to start a thread in a forum. The introductory advice says that "the Pilot Lounge and Career Builder forums will open up" once you have made your "introduce yourself" post. I have done so (above) and am not able to create a thread in the Flight School Section of Career Builder. I would like to start one as soon as possible so I can begin receiving feedback on my options. If anyone has any advice please let me know, Thank you!

I updated the intro information, it was out of date.

Hi!! New on here and already exciting to be reading all the messages and thoughts from people. I'm currently looking to get into flying as a career, pivoting from doing more security type work. Love travel of course, and excited to make some new friends who can help me along this new journey! Thanks for having me here.

Hi, I'm an occasional viewer who just joined. I've never flown or pursued a pilot's license, but I've been involved in a unique niche of aviation: firefighting. My engineering job has taken me around the world, paradoxically outside fire season most of the time. Having recently moved into a management position with the responsibility to stand up an entirely new aerial firefighting unit, I'm soaking up every source of aviation management knowledge I can find!
