I guess we should all bow down because he did 23 yrs in the Military. Man my life has been just one big party since I left flight school, other then having a job or two pulled out from me, bad pay, 20 days a month away from the family, I could go on and on, and I have had it about twice as good as most regional pilots. Don't get me wrong, I have the highest regard for those that have done a career in the military, huge sacrifices were made. But most who have made it in the civilian world have made sacrifices too, and deserve the right to complain about the sweatshop pay and benefits they have endured over the years, while you had a Goverment pension and lifetime benefits in your future if you gave Uncle Sam 20 yrs

Why do so few of the military guys moan that they wish they would have come up the civilian route?

You're missing the point. He's commenting on the incessant whining and arrogance on this board as if they are the only people who are underpaid, work long hours, travel a lot and have to work on holidays.

Many civilian pilots that I know complain about the most ridiculous things. They are expecting to get paid $200,000 and work 12 days a month. You're right, you were promised those things that didn't pan out. You've probably changed companies twice and been furloughed. If you have a job, you are better off than 10% of the population who lost their jobs in 2008. Thousands of people in their 50s lost were laid off less than 5 years from retirement and had to start over from the bottom.
