It all depends on experience. According to one of the agents, there is a slim chance, but there is no hope if the candidate protests and refuses a transition plan. The plan may include a simulator based ground and flight school, a type rating, followed by 50, 100, or even 200 hours of dual time with a captian qualified pilot.

Flying magazine recently had a feature about single pilot jets, and quoted several insurance agents. It was a common theme that owners went in thinking that since the jet was easier to fly than the baron, it was a given. When the underwriter declined to quote, and the agent recommended a transition airplane like a C-90, the suggestion usually fell on deaf ears.

For our 135 op, 25hours in type and we'll be insured. This is with "0" prior turbine experience, but I'm not sure what the min TT is nor what it's going to cost my boss. He rode in one about 2 months ago, said they idled the engines alternately, and you couldn't hardly even feel the thing slow down, let alone turn. I can't wait!!!!!!!!
Eclipse is selling this whole "new" "air taxi" thing, which is what 135 has been and still is. Charter jets have been around for a while. Nothing really new here.
As far as you getting into a jet--I can't wait for you either.

The Eclipse is many times easier to operate than a Baron. We had one through our airport about a month ago for a VLJ convention. Our D.O. got the opportunity to fly it and was blown away at the user friendly controls and cockpit.
Has anyone had actual quotes from their insurance companies or are you all just throwing around numbers?
