think my best was a sustained cruise of 152kts in a 172 from DEN-MSP.
I also have a video of us doing slow flight into the wind down near DAL. The video shows a view down at the ground, and the right main wheel isnt moving, relative to the ground. I'll try to locate it, but dont know how to upload it to here.

SAN-PHX (massive tailwind) 190+ in a 172
PHX-SAN (massive headwind w/ lee side mountain downdraft, Vx climb) ATC asks what type aircraft, I respond CE-172, ATC says "Oh. You're doing about 10 knots GS"
Sometimes it would take an hour or more to push through that downdraft, in a Vy or Vx climb.
