Hell, I had a CA who was in uniform and wearing his hat in the Jack-in-the-Box across the parking lot from our hotel in Pocatello, ID years ago. Just off the interstate, about fifteen miles away from the airport, middle of nowhere.
It was about two hours before show, I sat far, far away.
Yeah, he had issues.

The pilots of Instagram: beautiful views from the cockpit, violating rules of the air ? Quartz

Does nobody remember the sihtstorm this douche nugget created in our industry not even two years ago? Is our collective short term memory really that terrible?

How many other wannabe pseudo-journalists do you think are out there harboring secret grudges against us, ready and willing to expose our names and positions for the whole world to see, including the FAA?

Is the FAA actively searching IG accounts for "illegal" photographs? More than likely, no. But when some keyboard warrior who couldn't get past the solo stage finds your photos and makes a big stink about them publicly, what exactly do you expect the FAA to do then, just look the other way?

The guy wearing his hat at breakfast could be one of two personalities. Either the narcissistic millennial constantly taking selfies thinking he's g-d's gift to aviation... OR the old curmudgeon who isn't on any social networks, bemoans anyone under 50 years old while yearning for the "good ol days" and thinks he's g-d's gift to aviation. Hmm, similar!

If we want to go down this instagram road, I'm pretty jealous that other countries allow their pilots to wear full beards! dunno, maybe their O2 masks can accommodate beards and our airlines are just too cheap to shell out for the beard extension.

Or he is eating in such a sleazy restaurant that his hat will pick up grease if he sets it down anywhere.

Actually, apparently at least one person at the FAA does exactly this and my very good buddy got fired. For reals. Union got his regional job back eventually but he's out of airlines now because it was too much of a black mark for the majors.

He's not some self-absorbed tool either who's all over social media, so yeah it can happen to anybody.

There is something mental about the whole selfie stick-look at me fascination. Guess I'm getting old because I don't get it, your not all that and your life is not that interesting.
