Default Pilatus PC-12 Owners

What is it that you love about your PC-12.

Interesting Fact!

During the late 1940s Pilatus produced a number of wooden glider designs and went on to produce fuselages and tail-booms for the licence-produced De Havilland Vampire and Venom.

We actually took Gold At the 2015 Reno Air Races in the Jet Class. The plane we flew was the De Havilland Vampire. To bad the following year we had a crash during the race.

Not guessing you'll find many airline pilot PC-12 owners. However I had a buddy who owned one and loved the cargo door and generous payload.

we operate 2 NG's part 91. We acquired our first AC 5 years ago, a used 2008 and acquired our second AC, a new from the plant 2014. We have put almost 2100 hours total between both airframes.
Good: Automation of systems (set it and forget it), Large cabin, trailing link gear, PT6 power plant, large cargo door, operating costs. We can go into busy airports (FTY, PDK, BNA, ATL, just to name a few) and not get in the way. OUr corporate footprint is in rural areas as well so the WAAS capabilities are good too.

BAD: only one engine, rides like a log truck through turbulence, Pilatus will dictate where you get maintenance performed (depends on the state you operate)

overall: love the plane, works good, lasts long time..great training at FSI DFW, we are actually considering trading the older plane on a new one, tbd by our management.

Strong plane
Easy to work on
Long legs
Can fly fast approaches
500' landings (or less)
Good single pilot airplane (especially the -9 variants)

It needs:
Hot wing (anti ice)
anti skid
FADEC

I would like to see a larger variant based on the P+W century series.

I have about 2500 hours in the Deuce, it was a great airplane, and I'll second what was said above.

From what I have heard, the PC-24 is going to be a great airplane as well.

Question about the Apex Avionics.

I miss the top of descent. If I missed the TOD and arm VNAV it will go up to 8 degrees nose down to capture the path…correct? It will even overspeed correct? Yet, if I use the SPD button and leave VNAV armed I can set the speed I want and pull the power back. With power back and in SPD and VNAV armed, once I descend to the path it will capture…correct?
