Default We are dying up here! ALPA HELP!

We are just a small group(400).
Soon to be ~125.
We were purchased by TPG/Northwest early in 2008. (53/47%)respectively.
We were told we were to park all 80s due to fuel cost in June.(1/3 of fleet).

We were told that 16 of 25 B717's were going back to Boeing.

We were told that mgmt entered into agreement with Republic to operate 12 e170's to replace the 717's (another 125 furloughed). Currently awaiting arbitrators decision on Section 1 grievance.

We were told we might get to fly the E-170 but only if we accept draconian pay and benefit cuts. (ala Seabury LLC)(See our pay/profile on this site)
Also currently engaged in Section 6 negotiations.

We were set aside by Delta when they merged with Northwest.
To stand alone. It feels that way.

We have been snubbed at every attempt to reach out to the Delta MEC.

We were a great little airline and won a lot of awards.
We were a great place to work as a pilot.

We were Midwest Airlines
See more of this story at dontoutsourcemidwest.com

This is how they try to crush us!

We need the rank and file to help in this fight.

Sad to see the state that this has gone to, but at the same time ALPA should have never opposed the merger with AirTran, there would have been furloughs but not the outsourcing that is going on now.

The Midwest situation is an outrage. If you guys don't think this potentially can happen to every major out there you're sadly mistaken. Believe me, the other majors will be watching to see what happens in this test case of Midwest Pilots vs Midwest Mgt. vs. Republic. They'll be looking to see if they (YX mgmt) can pull this off, and if they do. Watch out!

I feel for the Midwest guys. If there was anything I could do as a rank and file Delta guy, I would. However, there isn't much we can do. Here is a question that I hope you don't take the wrong way. Did any of you expect anything good would happen when TPG and NWA purchased you? I kinda think most people knew it was NWA's way of getting rid of a competitor in the mid-west. The AirTran deal would have been a much better road for Midwest in my uneducated opinion. I hope the best for all of you, and I think you all should have been integrated into the DAL/NWA list FWIW.

The question is..what could have been done?

I'm with Rockyboy that they should have just been folded into the "conglomo." I'm not sure what else could have been done...

As a mainline Delta guy commuting on Midwest quite a bit, I can say that you guys are a class act and offer a unique product. I haven't seen mention on this board of the 4/day MCI-NYC Delta service starting in Mar/Apr. Is that an attempt to compete with Midwest, or eventually absorb those flights or what? Any ideas?

I am sorry for what has happened to your company.

I am also amazed that pilots actually think that ALPA is actually there to help. They are about your money, nothing else.

Good luck with everything.

Plain and simple -They fear litigation.
Any acknowledgement by Delta or DALPA that Midwest is a part of the current merger or somehow their "responsibility" would trigger several laws, one of which is the new employee seniority rights law passed in response to the TWA/AA debacle.
The Delta MEC can't negotiate integrating the Midwest pilots. Let's say they offered a staple to the new seniority list? Many Midwest pilots would probably jump at that but it would only take one pilot to sue and claim his Allegheny-Mohawk rights were violated.

You can thank the AA/TWA flight attendants for the Delta MEC's paralysis.
Along with Kit Bond and Claire McCaskill. They meant well in trying to stop any repeats of AA unions bullying the TWA people but the effect was also to prevent one union from throwing a lifeline to another without opening a giant can of legal worms.

Hey doofus. ALPA didn't block the merger, Tim Hoeksema and Midwest managemet did. If ALPA wanted the merger to happen, it still wouldn't have happened.
