Everyone here is dancing around the subject. We all need to ask ourselves the question, "Why is Midwest still here?"
None of this makes any business sense whatsoever. Why is management so afraid of filing chapter 11 or just closing the doors on an airline that is now smaller than it's feeders? Why are they paying a consulting firm more money than they are saving by furloughing pilots. Why are they spending more money to subcontract Republic than to continue to operate the 717s?
I think it it's all about 100 seat pay rates and eliminating virtually all work rules. The Midwest pilots are just a bunch of lab rats and ALL of the management entities, involved or not, are salvating at the prospect of throwing this into the mix of their own contract negotiations.
This will affect way more than just the Midwest pilots and their frustration is that no one seems to "get it" while they fight over Super Premium Widebody pay and Carrer Expectations.

Fit, in a word, "no." Research TSA / GoJets to see how ALPA got it's butt handed to it on a single carrier petition despite having the same management, scheduling, physical location, etc.... There were many more indications of a common transportation system and alter ego in that case. The NLRB ruled that creating an airline to get around scope language (to violate a PWA was legitimate). It was a loss none of us should forget with regard to GoJets and Teamsters. (oops, just read you are an E190 pilot, don't know where, but I'm sticking to my position on Teamsters & GoJets - that was shameful).
If Delta ends up with any 717's it will be done at arms length through Boeing.
I'm not sure the Delta MEC can do anything to help other than offer symbolic support. There is certainly some common ground since under code share this is a pretty easy end run around Delta's Section 1 and limits on the large RJ's.
I'm sick and tired of this outsourcing. Any pilot at any airline, including Delta, needs to wake up if they don't think this could not happen to them.

I'm thinking they have a plan in the works for just this reason. Maybe the elusive 100-seater will be flown by Republic under the Midwest banner and we'll "code-share" with them. I think this Midwest deal could end up being a mess for the Delta guys. DALPA and NWALPA should have required that Midwest be integrated into the whole mess while we were at it.

We are just a small group(400).
Soon to be ~125.
We were purchased by TPG/Northwest early in 2008. (53/47%)respectively.
We were told we were to park all 80s due to fuel cost in June.(1/3 of fleet).
We were told that 16 of 25 B717's were going back to Boeing.
We were told that mgmt entered into agreement with Republic to operate 12 e170's to replace the 717's (another 125 furloughed). Currently awaiting arbitrators decision on Section 1 grievance.
We were told we might get to fly the E-170 but only if we accept draconian pay and benefit cuts. (ala Seabury LLC)(See our pay/profile on this site)
Also currently engaged in Section 6 negotiations.
We were set aside by Delta when they merged with Northwest.
To stand alone. It feels that way.
We have been snubbed at every attempt to reach out to the Delta MEC.
We were a great little airline and won a lot of awards.
We were a great place to work as a pilot.
We were Midwest Airlines

This is how they try to crush us!
We need the rank and file to help in this fight.

Just like how the senior pilots "helped" those losing their jobs during the first furlough of pilots in Nov. 2001? Yeah, I was there and can attest to the fact that guys were picking up opentime the same day as I had to turn in my ID and escorted out of ops by security. I'm sorry this is happening to you guys, but kharma is a b!tch.
Sure, it's not right, but you show me a shop where at least some of that greed doesn't happen?
BTW, do you think you'll upgrade when you guys take over all of DHL's flying? Of course they'll get a chance to interview, wont they?

Thanks for the reply puts a lot of things into perspective, makes me wonder If i will ever go back to the US.

And as to your second question, nope, no upgrade for me. Was never expecting one. And I have no control over who DHL decides to contract with. I have no control who UPS decides to interview. I'm just a line slug. If you're trying to make me feel guilty or ashamed at previous UPS practices, won't work. They do what they want to do.
Good luck to you.
