Think you have a bad contract?
The stranded astronauts only get $5/day for their nine month ordeal.

Standard government deal...
If you're military and deployed to a location where they have to put you up in a hotel, you get generous per diem, based on local COL.
If you're deployed to a FOB in the middle of Bumfukistan, with a nice tent and all the MRE's and tepid water you can drink, no per diem. Same while deployed on a ship.
At least now they give you $225/month and a tax break for combat zone service. Even though per diem can be over $300/DAY in some places

One way to save the government money is make the Air Force put up tents at the airports and camp like we had to in the Army. Hotels?
