Of course all that is subject to change post JCBA.

Choose wisely.

No! Alaska narrowbody pay rate is higher, therefore it’s the better system to work under 🙄

Their first year pay is more AND they have out of seniority vacation trading! It’s a clear winner.

Yes. Most FOs leave the 717 when they can and the replacement aircraft hasn’t been officially announced yet.

717 used to be senior. That was over a decade ago. There used to be CA pay and FO pay with no difference between fleets. Once the pay for widebodies started going up more than 717, more senior people went after the money. The top third, maybe top half of the 717 CA list has been pretty consistent, everything below that is a revolving door.

What percentage of 717 lines have layovers? Being a 717 pilot at Hawaiian was probably the best airline pilot job in the world if you're a family man. It really sucks that Southwest forced you to have overnights on neighbor islands, so it totally makes sense why it'd go stupid junior now.

It’s roughly a 60/40 split with 40% being 2 day trips. You’re still home every day, but it’s not as great as it used to be.

Man, that's still rough. It used to be 100% turns. I can totally see why people would much rather jump to A321 vs. stay on 717 just from the QOL perspective. I would presume the 2-day trips go junior on the 717, right?

On the 717 you do a turn, then take a 321 crew to maui, fly some more. Layover on outer island . Wake up do a turn, take that same 321 crew home from maui. Then do another turn. That 321 crew is getting paid 12+ hours and the 717 crew is getting 10. Once 717 pilots realized this then it was a no brainer.

Yes 2 days go junior. Day trips with 4 legs or less tend to be the most senior, that or airport reserve.
