Which 3? Lakes, Go Jet, and Compass? Good chance at lakes, don't even get me started on Go Jet and Compass.....you need 1500TT and 500ME. I've been on the street for over 6 months with a few thousand hours and 3 types. Don't get your hopes up to much about getting into that RJ, there are alot of qualified people on the street.

I am aware, at least they are hiring again, there was nothing but furloughs from the regional's for some time, it gives hope seeing some hiring again. I doubt we will see anything like we saw over the last 3 years from them, I am beyond ****ed I missed that bus.

First, some of the information on Pilotjobs.com is inaccurate, especially the Lynx information. Second, you would have to be really lucky to even get an interview with 1000 hours right now. For Lynx, you need an internal recommendation and Dash 8 time. Compass is only interviewing for a pool and it is very very competitive! Not sure what is going on at GoJet.

Employers have us by the nuts right now, and they can be very picky as to who they want to hire!

Thats life, keep instructing or flying jumpers or keep doing whatever it is you're doing. You have very little to be ****ed about, you probably didn't make that bus because you didn't have the experience.

****ed is someone who spend 20 years at ATA, Midwest, etc. and now is on the street and has a family to support.

I missed the bus because I stayed in College, I am in my last semester now, I just got hired working manifest at a jump site with the promise of getting flying time as well at the site, hope it all pulls through, I have to take one final summer class so I have no choice but stay local, and I am beyond lucky I got hired doing this, my next stop was Walmart

Playing devil's advocate for a second;

Given that there are many in a similar position to dn-w, with type ratings, turbine commands, and thousands of hours - pretty much all job advertisements could state a requirement for 5,000 hours, and be filled many times over, could they not?

So, my question is: does anyone think that GoJet, Lakes, Compass et al are actually after people with the lower times they quote - eg 500 at GoJet, 750 at Lakes, because they have low-houred pilots by the sack, wereas they may view those with far higher experience as 'over-qualified', and deem them unsuitable, because they may move on very quickly. In the same way as someone who has a masters applying for a position which requires a 2 year degree would most likely be turned down for a similar reason.

All just conjecture, of course, and isn't necessarily my opinion, just a different take on things, does anyone else see any validity in the idea?

I have a few friends who went to Compass from ATA. it was pretty much the only place hiring at the time. I will tell you alot of guys there are high time. I heard the company is pretty good but they all complain of the pay. Thats everywhere. Most of my pals there have well over 4000 hrs. Alot of the FO's have well over 1500TT min.

like was said in an ealier post.....alot of high time pilots are on the line and regionals are picking them up. I know one guy right now with 20000 and he's itting right seat at a regional. It's all that was available. Hope the industry picks up and soon.

No that is preposterous. Regional do not care about TT other than to get the guy with the most amount of time in that particular pilot market. Most are hiring former furloughed, which are the highest risk. If you don't have any pro experience it will probably take you at least one or two years to get an airline job because it's going to go in the order of furloughed, pt135 then street guys. Gojet is the only jet airline that is actively hiring in the country, think about that. That means that there are thousands of street guys, thousands of furloughed guys, and thousands of pt135/91 charter/corp guys looking for the 50-100 spots left. Unless you know someone or are furloughed your chances of being called are slim.
