Sorry to hear you got shut out during the last round. When I read your comments I see a lot of negative coming through. The bottom line is that you were screwed to some degree. If you went through the process and were hired and just waiting for a class date only to watch the merger go down without you on board that really must have sucked.

That said, many people will only see what is perceived as a bad attitude coming through not having shared your grief and pain. I would like to see you still come over to Delta. I'm sure on most days outside of the disappointment of missing the boat last time you are a fun easy going guy. Let me give you some advise that mirrors what others here have said:

1. Start studying and be ready when you get the call. You will really regret it if you do get the call and screw up the testing/knowledge stuff.

2. Ask the moderator if he/she can remove your posts that give identifying information (the ones you have posted on this thread the last couple days including your background, flight time, equipment, etc).

3. Put the past behind you and get on board this round. Life most certainly is NOT fair (I know that from personal experience as well). Make something good happen now, be positive in the face of bad things that have happened and secure your future with no regrets.

Good luck to you!

PS- I interviewed in 2001 and had to wait 6 years for my next shot that was ultimately successful. Glad I gave it everything I had and never gave up. It can be the same with you.

(saying this as a friend)

You need to relax a little. This process has just started. I don't know why DAL has not recognized the poolies. But I also don't know why NWA didn't stick up for you all during the merger (perhaps theres much I don't know here, that happens alot. haha)

Right now, DAL is looking at applications and selecting from the best they have. That is their right and any company would do it. Give it time. If you are as clean and experienced as you say you are, you most likely will get a call.

My best advice, be hopeful, yet prepared for the worst.

I wouldn't expect anyone to get in this year that isn't highly qualified with massive mil/121 pic time. The reason is that there are only going to be a few off the street hiring positions until the flow is exhausted. Of the 305 pilots being hired almost 150 of them are flow-throughs. This isn't even accounting for the number of returning furloughs.

When/if hiring continues into next year, that's when hiring will open up a bit more for other guys like you and me. I know of another poolie who was called, but he is as qualified as the other people who are getting called. It's another hurry up and wait.

exactly. I feel I meet the qualifications but have no "real" expectation of the big D calling me for the few classes they will run this year. DAL pilots will get their buddies on board that have been waiting since 08 for a call. The others will be flow throughs. Just give it some time. Once all the buddies and flow throughs are in the rest of us will have a chance. It has been a long drought but it will change and things will get moving again. Till then we just need to keep carrying on.

Still the best route to Delta is through Compass. As long as that flow stays intact.

I think reading between the lines that NWAPoolie does not have the Delta required PIC time. I don't know how Delta is going to view this but I suspect they might not waive that requirement for fear of opening themselves up to legal action from others without the PIC time. I thought prior to the post he met all Delta qualifications. I have heard that all NWA poolies who meet the DAL minimums will get interviews. I will know more on that question next week.

Flight Time Requirements
  • Minimum of 1,200 hours of total documented flight time
  • Minimum of 1,000 hours of fixed wing turboprop or turbofan time
What PIC requirement?

I hope you get the call. As you prep for the interview however, I'd like to offer some advice.

Your posts here are coming off as a bit unhinged. If I were on the interview panel, and I'm not, I wouldn't be inclined to hire you. Delta is all about stable individuals who others would enjoy flying with. When you accuse the Delta hiring system of "stealing millions of dollars of future earnings" from you, that won't fly. Your ONLY expectation should be that Delta will offer you an interview. Period. Any thoughts to the contrary should be repressed and probably removed forever. Otherwise, you'll remain unemployed by Delta.

Secondly, the former NWA is not half of Delta. You probably should do some research there as well. They will probably ask you some questions about the company. Blind and uninformed statements won't get it done. Do some homework.

Good luck to you.

When evaluating the flight time of applicants meeting the basic qualifications, consideration will be given to, among other things, quality, quantity, recency, and verifiability of training; complexity of aircraft flown; types of flight operations; and hours flown as PIC in turbine powered aircraft. Applicants invited to interview must provide appropriate documentation of all flight hours.

I thought Delta had a PIC requirement. I believe they did in the last round of hiring. Since they don't I see no reason he should not get a interview. As mentioned above however I hope none of the pilots in the interview board connect the applicant with these posts. It wont help.
