I bet if you walked into your HR department and said that you would get to see "choke people choking".

I'm a captain at a mainland regional and was in the 2012 pool. I have two internal recs and have been invited to interview again in October. Wonder where I truly stand?

Vacancy bid cancelled... all bets are off. As someone above said, "always subject to change"

Are you serious?? If true, that is worse than Mesa hiring practices.

Certainly not a Kool aide drinker, voted against the last contract mainly because the scope clause and vacation pay issues were just wrong. The union leadership has a long way to go to improve things. Never said the hiring practices were great, just prefer to work on issues that help the pilots already here.

Glad to hear it, most of us are trying to change and improve things for the better. I guess with you it' just a matter of "I can say it, but you can't" or something.. I completely understand. At least we both have the same objective which is to make our company better. As for helping pilots already here, I hear you on that too... I am chairman of a committee directly part of our Section 6 efforts.

As for the next bid... yes, sure we can likely still have new hires... in a game of hopes, I prefer to lower mine and be pleasantly surprised. The words "Cancelled" block horus doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy for more pilots, but hey.... i could be wrong, and I certainly hope I am.

Either way, I want to apologize on my part for anyone who wasted time, money, and possibly put their current job at risk to come out and interview if we do infact not hire those 14, or 10 I guess...

btw, It merits to state (since some feel I've been entirely too critical)..

Hawaiian is a great place to work for the most part, and factoring in how old our CBA is.. it's only going to get better, and this pilot group seems determined to get their's back after a decade of give backs..

Hawaiian has some of the coolest people i've ever worked with, and truly a fun place to work. I never dread walking into the crew room because I always meet a friend.. from the most senior captain to the most junior FO. I love the pilot support staff.. the Chief Pilots secretaries are both saints and always happy to deal with us pilots and our problems! The guys who volunteer their time at the lowest levels, do so out of their love for the company and this translates to a happy work place.

We fly a great and well maintained fleet of jets, to some of the nicest destinations... There are no horrid layovers, only different degrees of good.

We offer the ability to be an airline pilot and be home every night... Very few Legacy airlines have anything like Inter Island.

We have an interesting mix of culture... Asian, White, Hawaiian, and guys literally from everywhere ... all 6 continents..

It is a great job, and good place to work.

Is it perfect?? Far from it.. are we all trying to make it a better place? I'm sure of it.

Do we all have the same vision for what this should look like? No...but that is no different than if you were at Delta, United, Spirit, Jet Blue, or Allegiant... they all have their infighting, they all have their Koolaid drinkers and their critics...

I understand that it's easier to get hired at Fedex than Hawaiian, and that for some its their life long dream... that's both good and bad. It's good because when you get it, you feel you won the lottery.. The bad is.. you feel like you won the lottery and you begin to wear the HAL issued Revo Rose frames..

As someone who just yesterday received confirmation of an interview date, then first thing this morning see a post stating: "vacancy bid canceled," wonder if someone could try to provide some clarity here? Thanks loads.

I hear they knew about the vacancy bid change from as early as yesterday, so it's safe to assume since you were re-confirmed yesterday, you are still on. Maybe if you simply respond to your confirmation with a "I'm looking forward to meeting you" and see what they say?

There is a chance, that the vacancy bid changes fleet mix, not the need to hire into Interisland... lets hope that's the case.

You should continue to truck along until something official comes down.
