Anyone know if all phase 3 invites are done for this last application window? Interviewed in Oct. and never got the thanks by no thanks e-mail. Still waiting patiently for a Phase III invite.

Anyone care to take a guess as to how many are in that "still under consideration" bucket from the last window. 50? 70? 100? Seems there are quite a few of us.

Thank you.. HA my dream job still "under consideration" never interviewed, got the email from Sue about 5 months ago, with the whoopsy email 30 min later... From a line by Hawaiian artist Jack Johnson, "must I always be waiting waiting on you.."

How about those in the guard/reserve? Have you see that demographic much at HAL? I interviewed before I joined the military and was invited to phase 3 after I joined so I had to turn it down. I'm looking to apply again in a year or two when I'm done with active duty (back to traditional reservist). But I'm wondering if my new military commitment will hurt my chances this time around since HAL is still a relatively small company and they'd know that I have another professional commitment on the side. (I know discrimination is illegal but really there's no way you could prove they didn't hire you for one reason or another.)

From what I can see, there are surpringly few military pilots in the new hires. My class the one before line, and the two after mine had none. Which for a legacy airline is odd. Not sure why, just reporting my observation.

Ya that's what I thought as well. My interview subgroup (the dozen or so of us in the group interview) only had two military guys and I don't even know if either got hired.

Well, for one, Hawaiian does not pay very well first year. And the fact that they don't fly you out to Hawaii, for phase 1/2 and phase 3 - nor do they fly you out to Honolulu to start your new job, seems a little off-puting. A little odd to hear "welcome to the Hawaiian family, now find your own way here."

This and the lack of options with domiciles kind of puts them in a very limited niche group.

Then again, could be a general decrease in military trained pilots overall. Don't think drone operators follow the airline route path, do they?

There are many good things about Hawaiian, but some aspects make it a bit peculiar.

For the reasons you mentioned. Military pilots can't jump seat to the islands for the numerous interviews or wait for Hawaiian's long interview process and many can't live on the islands during first year pay. Unless they are already stationed there.

No they don't. At least not the ones without other flying time.

Lots of guard and former military guys here, particularly Army helicopter pilots.
