Military pilots can't jump seat to the islands for the numerous interviews.

Not true. There are numerous military flights to the islands. Active/retired military people can Space A on virtually all of them.

Space A is a completely different animal.

I know nothing of Hawaiian's hiring practices, but I'm assuming their interview is one day, at a specific time. You just cant count on Space A to get you there.

I flew Space A to Hawaii a couple of years ago, spent three days in San Francisco waiting on a flight there, then two days in Hawaii waiting for a flight out. That only gets you to San Francisco, or Seattle, or maybe San Antonio. Then, you've gotta get home. I know most airline guys don't have to buy tickets, but buying same day airline tickets is quite expensive.

Hawaiian is a fine airline to work for, I'm sure, but most military guys that aren't stationed in Hawaii can't afford to apply there.

Heck, I can badly afford to go to job fairs!

Perhaps a little research would have gotten you back and forth faster. Lots of Navy flights with seats available. But if you hang around the MAC terminals, you'll sit.

Nope, tried the Navy ones, no seats, but there was only one Navy flight out when I was out there, back to the mainland. Dont remember where it was going to either.

Not the point though. For a guy NOT in the airline industry, not able to jumpseat, I'm finding out trying to get a job is quite expensive.

When is the next App window? Mayish still? Also what is the best way for some one who isnt Hawaiian to get noticed? I've always loved the islands, and used to go every couple month's when I was younger but never had the chance to move there ( almost but it didn't come through). Unfortunately I don't know anyone there either. I know it is a long shot but I would love to fly and live there. I have heard of people flying there to try and network. Thoughts?
