Don't listen to these guys. Republic is one of the best run regionals out there. Bedford is a genius when it comes to running an airline. Lots of growth, everyone I know there absolutely loves it. Congrats on passing thier extremely selective screening process! I only wish they would call me! Patiently waiting by the phone...

No matter how much everyone says stay away from RAH, every "young guy" I meet is pounding down the door for the 175...I don't think you'll have any trouble staffing them.

I, unfortunately, disagree with you. And what follows below isn't directed to you, but all the negative people. I was originally offered the Q and after refusing was offered the 170. I simply didn't want the Q because of two reasons: bases and maintenance. I have a friend who flies the Q and says it's a maintenance headache. With no cancellation pay, it sounds like accepting that, may result in shooting myself in the foot with pay. Since everyone on here complains about the contract and pay, why would that convince me to take the maintenance-filled airplane? Hmmm? Doesn't make since to me. So let's stop accusing everyone of SJS. Simply, nearly everyone on this forum entered the career because of their love for aviation. One doesn't simply decide "one day, I'm going to be a pilot" without having a true aspiration. Are there any good regionals? Some may argue that Horizon is good, or ExpressJet, or SkyWest. Simply, every regional has its flaws. It's not meant to be a career workplace. So, let's stop bashing "young guys" for taking these jobs. Given the choice between the airplanes, which would you choose?

I never gave my opinion about the company, just that RAH is on top of the list for all the "young guys" for lack of better term. They all cite the same thing-flying the 175...most have said if they don't get the 175 right out of the gate, they'll apply elsewhere. Just a small sample of the pilot population, but that sample has been unanimous.

Common guys. All regions suck... Some just a little worse than others. There are definitely worse places to go than Republic. You got to start somewhere I guess. I just recently applied to Republic, although it was my 3rd choice as far as regionals go... It gets me the closest to home... If you don't mind me asking, how many hour did you get hired with to get into the 170. Also, Skywest is getting them too, but I have heard they are not hiring straight into them at first. Just what I heard...
