That's funny! Meme that thing.

I think the leases are two years out from expiring. Until then, upgrade the moment you have the chance to. Chances are you'll be picked up and off to a Big 3 + AS + SW before the first Q leaves property.

If the upgrade time stays around the four year mark, I'd be upgrading right about the time they park the first airplanes (I was hired Jan of '14), so at least I'd be able to avoid a furlough.

How many pilots do you think would get furloughed if we parked those 15 Q's and never got replacements?

My guess is no furloughs and very few downgrades. After closing 4 bases, Attrition will take care of any fat in the system.

The simple math says 160ish, I personally think it's idle rhetoric to see if we'll take a cut to the jet rates to get them on property.

Assuming the number of pilots is directly proportional to the number of airplanes, my math says that about 185 people would be furloughed, based on 28% of 661 pilots.

Like others have said though, no one has any real idea what's going to happen when those leases expire, so we'll just have to wait and see where the truth lies between the "we're all DOOMED!" position coming from IBT and the grumpy senior guys, and the "positioned for growth, sunshine and puppies for everyone!" position coming from QX management.

According to the APC Horizon Air page updated on June 9th 2015......

"Upgrade times now down to 4 years
"Handshake agreement with Alaska" that 40% of their pilots will come from QX"

This means they'll get interviews, not jobs. When this "agreement" started, 3 of the 4 QX check airmen who interviewed were NOT hired.
